  1. 1. Thermal Conductivity of Materials under Conditions of Planetary Interiors

    Author : Zuzana Konôpková; Peter Lazor; Vitali Prakapenka; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iron; high pressures-high temperatures; thermal conductivity; diamond anvil cell; laser-heating; planetary cores; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The presented thesis focuses on study of transport and thermoelastic properties of materials under conditions of planetary interiors by means of high-pressure experimental tools and finite element modeling, and their role in the dynamics and states of cores of terrestrial planets. Experiments in laser-heated diamond anvil cell (LHDAC) in combination with numerical simulations of heat transfer in DAC are shown to yield information on thermal conductivity of a pressurized sample. 2. 2. Ionic Liquid Based Electrolytes for High-Temperature Lithium-Ion Batteries

    Author : Manfred Kerner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EMITFSI; EMIFSI; electrolyte; ionic liquid; lithium-ion battery; high-temperature stability; LiFSI;

    Abstract : Today, lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are ubiquitous in mobile phones, laptops, and other portable devices. The research community strives to further improve the LIB to increase electric driving distance and efficiency of both hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and fully electric vehicles (EVs). READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling of wear and galling in press hardening simulations

    Author : Liang Deng; Mats Oldenburg; Karl Nielsen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Implementation of press hardened parts in automobile responses to the requirement of reduced carbon dioxide emission because the press hardened part has very high ratio of strength to weight. Furthermore, ultra high-strength steels (press hardened parts) increases the vehicle safety. READ MORE

  4. 4. A representative interactive linear-eddy-model (RILEM) for simulating spray combustion

    Author : Tim Lackmann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; engine simulation; turbulent combustion; regime independent;

    Abstract : Engine development aims at reducing pollutant emissions (e.g. NOx , soot,UHC) while maintaining high efficiencies. Detailed experimental resultsin combination with precise numerical predictions are of great importancein order to develop combustion systems for new clean and efficient inter-nal combustion engines. 5. 5. Power cycles with ammonia-water mixtures as working fluid

    Author : Eva Thorin; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : It is of great interest to improve the efficiency of powergenerating processes, i.e. to convert more of the energy in theheat source to power. This is favorable from an environmentalpoint of view and can also be an economic advantage. READ MORE
