  1. 21. Fatigue strength of welds in 800 MPa yield strength steels : Effects of weld toe geometry and residual stress

    Author : Ebrahim Harati; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fatigue strength; Residual stress; Welds; Weld toe geometry; High strength steel; Weld Impression Analysis; Laser Scanning Profiling; Structured Light Projection; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Nowadays there is a strong demand for lighter vehicles in order to increase the pay load. Through this the specific fuel consumption is decreased, the amount of greenhouse gases is lowered and the transport economy improved. One possibility to optimize the weight is to make the components from high strength steels and join them by welding. READ MORE

  2. 22. Numerical simulation of sheet metal forming for high strength steels

    Author : Claes Arwidson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : New demands for passenger safety, vehicle performance and fuel economy have led to an increase in the use of advanced high strength steel. An increase in strength decreases the formability of the material and increases the spring back behaviour. READ MORE

  3. 23. Increasing phase transformation rate in advanced high strength steel applications

    Author : Farnoosh Forouzan; Esa Vuorinen; Frank Mücklich; Maria Santofimia Navarro; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Advanced high strength steel; Quenching and partitioning; welding; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : The bainite transformation rate has been shown to increase by starting the heat treatment with partial martensite transformation after austenitization. Based on this fact, a process very similar to “Quenching and Partitioning” (Q&P) is used to produce a fine-grained complex microstructure of martensite, bainite and retained austenite with outstanding mechanical properties in a very short time. 4. 24. Fatigue strength of engineering materials : the influence of environment and porosity

    Author : Jan Linder; Bengt Lindberg; Lennart Josefsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stainless steel; cast aluminium; hardened steels; fatigue; corrosion; crack propagation; spot weld; porosity; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The objective of this work was to use LEFM in order to assess the detrimental influence of surrounding chloride-containing environments for stainless steels, hardened steel as well as for a cast aluminium alloy. An additional aim was also to use LEFM to assess the influence of porosity on the fatigue properties for different commercial cast aluminium alloys and manufacturing methods. READ MORE

  5. 25. Modelling and characterisation of fracture properties of advanced high strength steels

    Author : Rickard Östlund; Greger Bergman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics; Centrumbildning - Centrum för högpresterande stål CHS ; Centre - Centre for High Performance Steel CHS ;

    Abstract : Growing demands for passenger safety, vehicle performance and fueleconomy is a continuous driving force for the increase in use of advancedhigh strength steels (AHSS) in the automotive industry. Thesesteels area characterised by improved formability and crash worthinesscompared to conventional steel grades. READ MORE
