  1. 1. On impacts and ride-through of voltage sags exposing line-operated AC-machines and metal processes

    Author : Fredrik Carlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Rolling mill; Blast furnace; Power Quality; Synchronous machine; Asynchronous machine; Voltage sag; Voltage interruption; Ride-through; Process disturbances; Simulation; Modelling;

    Abstract : During the last decade, power quality has been recognised asa global problem. Among different types of power qualityproblems, voltage sags have been identified to be one of themost severe problems for different process industries. The mostcommon reason to voltage sags is lightning strikes in powerlines. READ MORE

  2. 2. Distance Protection of Transmission Lines with High Levels of Series Compensation : A study on frequency and time domain communication independent distance protection for series compensated lines

    Author : Md Tanbhir Hoq; Nathaniel Taylor; Jianping Wang; Claus Leth Bak; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Series capacitor; Series compensation; Transmission line; Distance protection; Incremental quantity; Lissajous curve; RL model; RLC model; Seriekondensator; Seriekompensation; Transmissionslinje; Distansskydd; Inkrementell kvantitet; Lissajous-kurva; RL-modell; RLC-modell; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Series capacitors are used in electric transmission lines to increase their power transfer capacity. They compensate for the inductive reactance of the line. They offer a useful alternative to building new lines, in view of economic and environmental constraints. READ MORE

  4. 4. Efficient high-speed on-chip global interconnects

    Author : Peter Caputa; Christer Svensson; Hartmut Grabinski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microelectronics; Global Interconnects; On-Chip Interconnects; Velocity-of-Light Delay; On-Chip Communication; Low-Latency; Transmission Lines; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The continuous miniaturization of integrated circuits has opened the path towards System-on-Chip realizations. Process shrinking into the nanometer regime improves transistor performancewhile the delay of global interconnects, connecting circuit blocks separated by a long distance, significantly increases. 5. 5. Phase transitions in high-temperature superconductors

    Author : Jack Lidmar; KTH; []
    Keywords : Superconductivity; Vortices; Phase transitions; Strongly correlated fermions; High-temperature superconductivity; Monte Carlo simulations.; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Thermal fluctuations and disorder strongly influence the behaviour of hightemperature superconductors. In particular the vortices play a key role in determining their properties. In this thesis the main focus lies on phase transitions, both in ultra-thin films and in three-dimensional systems, which are driven by vortex fluctuations. READ MORE
