  1. 11. Immunoassays using high-Tc SQUIDs

    Author : Fredrik Öisjöen; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; YBCO; antigen.; magnetic nanoparticles; immunoassays; antibody; SQUID; High-Tc;

    Abstract : The development of a system for immunoassays using highly sensitive high-Tc superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) is described in this thesis.High-Tc SQUIDs were fabricated using pulsed laser deposition and photolithography. 2. 12. New innovative methods for non-intrusive optical diagnostics of high-voltage insulator materials

    University dissertation from KFS AB

    Author : Magnus Bengtsson; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; akustik; optik; optics; acoustics; Electromagnetism; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; fluorescence; optical diagnostics; high-voltage insulation; remote sensing; polymeric insulators; lidar; biological contamination; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Energy research; Energiforskning; Elektromagnetism;

    Abstract : The purpose of this PhD thesis work has been to develop optical techniques that can help utility engineers for assessing the state of insulators in service and in a laboratory. The possibilities to use remote laser induced fluorescence for detection and imaging of biological growth such as algae and fungi have been investigated. READ MORE

  3. 13. Prevention of Biofilm Formation on Silicone Rubber Materials for Outdoor High Voltage Insulators

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Sevil Atari Jabarzadeh; KTH.; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High voltage insulator; silicone rubber; biofouling; biofilm; biocide; superhydrophobicity; self-cleaning; hierarchical roughness;

    Abstract : Microbial colonization on the surface of silicone rubber high voltage outdoor insulators often results in the formation of highly hydrated biofilm that influence the surface properties, such as surface hydrophobicity. The loss of hydrophobicity might lead to dry band formation, and, in the worst cases, flashover and failure of the insulator. READ MORE

  4. 14. On impacts and ride-through of voltage sags exposing line-operated AC-machines and metal processes

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Elektrotekniska system

    Author : Fredrik Carlsson; KTH.; [2003]
    Keywords : Rolling mill; Blast furnace; Power Quality; Synchronous machine; Asynchronous machine; Voltage sag; Voltage interruption; Ride-through; Process disturbances; Simulation; Modelling;

    Abstract : During the last decade, power quality has been recognised asa global problem. Among different types of power qualityproblems, voltage sags have been identified to be one of themost severe problems for different process industries. The mostcommon reason to voltage sags is lightning strikes in powerlines. READ MORE

  5. 15. Steady State Operation and Control of Power Distribution Systems in the Presence of Distributed Generation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Elektrotekniska system

    Author : Ferry Viawan; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distance protection; stochastic assessment; voltage dip; line drop compensation; distribution systems; on-load tap changer; overcurrent protection; sensitive equipment; voltage dip immunity; voltage control; short circuit; reactive power control; pilot protection.; protection coordination; protection; Distributed Generation; losses;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the impact of distributed generation (DG) on steady state operation and control of power distribution systems is investigated. Over the last few years, a number of factors have led to an increased interest in DG schemes. DG is gaining more and more attention worldwide as an alternative to large-scale central generating stations. READ MORE
