   Abstract : This thesis investigated (1) social status and shaming experiences in relation to aggressive behaviour and depression, and (2) gene-environment interactions between two genetic polymorphisms related to the serotonergic system – MAOA-VNTR and 5HTTLPR – and experiences of maltreatment in relation to delinquent behaviour and depression among adolescents.    Abstract : Essay I: This paper studies the importance of market work during high school for graduates' school-to-work transition and career. Relying on Swedish linked employer-employee data, I show that such work provides students with an important job-search channel that some graduates are deprived of due to establishment closures that occur just prior to graduation and labor market entry.    Abstract : Essay I: Divorce laws are known to influence family behavior, but empirical evidence of their effects on children remains scarce. I shed more light on this by investigating the effects of the Swedish divorce law reform of 1974, which liberalized the existing divorce laws and introduced a 6-month parental reconsideration period for divorce.
