1. Stable high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T levels and outcomes
Abstract : Background: Many patients who seek medical attention because of chest pain in the emergency department (ED), without myocardial infarction (MI) as a final diagnosis, will have cardiac troponin (cTn) levels above the upper normal limit when measured with the high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) assay. In patients with acute medical diseases other than MI which may affect hs-cTn levels, treatment strategies focus on underlying conditions. READ MORE

2. High-sensitivity Radioactive Xenon Monitoring and High-accuracy Neutron-proton Scattering Measurements
Abstract : Two aspects of applied nuclear physics have been studied in this thesis; Monte Carlo simulations for high-sensitivity monitoring of radioactive xenon and high-accuracy neutron-proton scattering measurements for neutron physics applications and fundamental physics. The Monte Carlo simulations have been performed for two systems for detection of radioactive xenon, using the MCNP code. READ MORE

3. High-Sensitivity High-Resolution Diode Laser Spectroscopy in the Near-Infrared Region
Abstract : High-resolution spectroscopy measurements have been performed using near-infrared diode lasers. Special emphasis was placed upon high accuracy absorption lineshape measurements, which provide the basis for quantitative gas analysis. For this purpose, relevant spectral characteristics of the radiation emitted by diode lasers were studied. READ MORE

4. High-sensitivity cardiac troponin T in the emergency department : admissions, resource utilization and outcomes
Abstract : Background: Patients presenting with chest pain in the emergency department (ED) may have myocardial infarction (MI) requiring immediate treatment. High-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) was recently introduced as a biomarker that aids in determining whether the patient requires hospital admission or can be safely discharged home.
