  1. 21. High speed communication on twisted-pair wires and low complexity multiuser detectors

    Author : Frank Sjöberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with two different topics: High speed communication on twisted pair wires (digital subscriber lines) and low complexity multiuser detectors. The major part of this thesis concerns a technique for high speed communication over the telephone network called Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line VDSL). READ MORE

  2. 22. On High-Speed Digital-to-Analog Converters and Semi-Digital FIR Filters

    Author : Mohammad Reza Sadeghifar; J Jacob Wikner; Robert Hägglund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DAC; RFDAC; SDFIR; FIR; semi-digital FIR filter; digital-to-analog converter; D A converter; data converter; mixed-signal integrated circuits; mixer DAC; IQ modulator; transmitter;

    Abstract : High-speed and high-resolution digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are vital components in all telecommunication systems. Radio-frequency digital-to-analog converter (RFDAC) provides high-speed and high-resolution conversion from digital domain to an analog signal. RFDACs can be employed in direct-conversion radio transmitter architectures. READ MORE

  3. 23. Quasi-Single Mode VCSELs for Longer-Reach Optical Interconnects

    Author : Erik Haglund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; quasi-single mode; oxide aperture; mode filter; vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser; high-speed modulation; mode control; spectral width;

    Abstract : The vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) is the standard light source in optical interconnects connecting racks in supercomputers and datacenters hosting services such as online data sharing, storage and processing. VCSELs have numerous advantages such as low power consumption, fast direct modulation at low currents, circular output beam for efficient fiber coupling and low-cost fabrication. READ MORE

  4. 24. Ultra-Wideband Low-Noise Amplifier andSix-Port Transceiver for High Speed DataTransmission

    Author : Adriana Serban; Shaofang Gong; Ke Wu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Today’s data rates in wired networks can reach 100 Gbit/s using optical fiber while data rates in wireless networks are much lower - tens of Mbit/s for 3G mobile communication and 480 Mbit/s for ultra-wideband (UWB) short range wireless communications. This difference in data rates can mainly be explained by the limited allowed frequency spectrum, the nature of the radio signal and the high requirements imposed on all hardware designed for high speed and wideband wireless communications. 5. 25. Longer Wavelength GaAs-Based VCSELs for Extended-Reach Optical Interconnects

    Author : Ewa Simpanen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser; high-speed modulation; reach; chromatic dispersion; single-mode; multi-mode; attenuation; optical interconnect;

    Abstract : Data centers of today are increasing in size and are built to accommodate strong traffic demands while providing sustainably by having clients sharing resources under one roof. Their massive scale puts pressure on the server network topology and has incited a need for data transmission links that are energy efficient and capable of operation at high bit rates with reach up to a few kilometers.
