11. Laser-Based Investigations of Combustion Phenomena in Gas Turbine Related Burners
Abstract : Experiments were performed on various combustion devices to investigate the flames employing different optical measurement techniques under atmospheric pressure conditions. Non-intrusive laser-based techniques provided in-situ information concerning different parameters of the combustion process, with a high degree of temporal and spatial resolution. READ MORE

12. Flow Boiling Heat Transfer in Single Vertical Channels of Small Diameter
Abstract : Microchannel heat exchangers present many advantages, such as reduced size, high thermal efficiency and low fluid inventory; and are increasingly being used for heat transfer in a wide variety of applications including heat pumps, automotive air conditioners and for cooling of electronics. However, the fundamentals of fluid flow and heat transfer in microscalegeometries are not yet fully understood. 13. Laser Diagnostics Applied to Lean Premixed Swirling Flames - Simultaneous Flow Field and Scalar Measurements
Abstract : The work reported here includes experimental studies of lean premixed swirling flames. Various laser-based optical diagnostic techniques were used to collect information under different operational conditions. Combined flow- and scalar field measurements were performed at high repetition rates for detailed studies of the turbulent flames. READ MORE

14. Black liquor gasification : burner characteristics and syngas cooling
Abstract : Black liquor gasification at high temperature is a promising alternative to the conventional recovery boiler process used in chemical pulp mills today. Compared to a conventional recovery boiler a black liquor gasifier can increase the total energy efficiency of a chemical pulp mill and produce a synthesis gas that can be used for production of motor fuel. 15. Computational Railway Dynamics - Integrated Train - Track - Subgrade Modeling and Simulations
Abstract : The primary objective of the thesis has been to extend the capabilities for computational modeling, prediction and simulation of the elastic response of the train, track structure and soil in railway systems. The industrial background is the high level of ground borne vibrations reported from citizens as a consequence of train traffic (in particular from high speed trains) in several Swedish locations.
