  1. 16. Unraveling the cuprate superconductor phase diagram : Intrinsic tunneling spectroscopy and electrical doping

    Author : Thorsten Jacobs; Vladimir Krasnov; Dominik Munzar; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; cuprates; intrinsic tunneling spectroscopy; Josephson junctions; mesa structures; micro nanoscale fabrication; electrical doping; pseudogap; Bi-2212; Bi-2201; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : High-temperature superconductors belong to the group of strongly correlated materials. In these compounds, complex repulsive electron interactions and a large number of degrees of freedom lead to a rich variety of states of matter. READ MORE

  2. 17. A Matter of Disorder : Monte Carlo Simulations of Phase Transitions in Strongly Disordered Systems

    Author : Marios Nikolaou; Mats Wallin; Asle Sudbø; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phase transitions; disorder; Monte Carlo simulations; superconductivity; Statistical physics; Statistisk fysik;

    Abstract : Phase transitions and their critical scaling properties, especially in systems with disorder, are important both for our theoretical understanding of our environment, but also for their practical use in applications and materials in our everyday life. This thesis presents results from finite size scaling analysis of critical phenomena in systems with disorder, using high-precision Monte Carlo simulations and state of the art numerical methods. 3. 18. Deviations from the London model in superconductors

    Author : Emma Campillo; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Neutron scattering; SANS; vortex lattice; condensed matter physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Campillo;

    Abstract : Using Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) we have studied the flux line lattices of the first heavy-fermion superconductor to be discovered, CeCu2Si2, the well-known high-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7, along with Ca-doped variants of this compound, and several topological superconductor candidates that have attracted a lot of attention in the last few years, such as PbTaSe2, Au2Pb and β-Bi2Pd.Unconventional superconductors, with pairing mechanisms and properties that are not accounted for within BCS theory, are a subject of continuing interest. 4. 19. Quantum Materials Probed by Light and Electron Spectroscopy

    Author : Karin von Arx; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RIXS; superconductivity; electron- phonon coupling; quantum materials; spin-orbit coupling; ARPES;

    Abstract : As new technologies rely heavily on materials’ properties, the quest for novel tunable electronic and magnetic materials occupies a large part of nowadays research efforts. Most promising materials are quantum materials, which exhibit a wide range of exotic electronic and magnetic phenomena and often show a great sensitivity to external perturbations such as temperature, pressure or chemical doping.
