  2. 2. Life assessment from weld microstructures at high temperatures

    Author : Jan Storesund; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Most pressure vessels in fossil power plant are designed forcreep. After operation of the order of the design lifetime thematerial may be degraded and further operation is limited.Methods which can prolong the lifetime and assess thecomponents is therefore demanded. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microsystems for Harsh Environments

    Author : Stefan Knaust; Lena Klintberg; Klas Hjort; Fredric Ericson; Samuel Marre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Microsystems; harsh environments; high pressures; high temperatures; supercritical microfluidics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : When operating microsystems in harsh environments, many conventionally used techniques are limiting. Further, depending on if the demands arise from the environment or the conditions inside the system, different approaches have to be used. READ MORE

  4. 4. Creep modeling and first-principles investigation of high-temperature alloys

    Author : Jing Zhang; Pavel A. Korzhavyi; Rolf Sandström; Gunther Eggeler; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Austenitic stainless steels; Nickel-based superalloys; Fundamental creep models; EMTO-CPA method; Quasi-harmonic Debye model; Thermo-mechanical properties; High temperatures.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Stainless steels and nickel-based superalloys are materials that have been widely used to manufacture components servicing at high temperatures. Creep strength is one of the most important properties in such conditions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extending Microsystems to Very High Temperatures and Chemically Harsh Environments

    Author : Zahra Khaji; Lena Klintberg; Klas Hjort; Greger Thornell; Frank Niklaus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HTCC; MEMS; MST; Microcombustor; Microthruster; Single-use valve; Wireless pressure sensor; flow sensor; in-situ electroplating; Monopropellant; Platinum; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : Aiming at applications in space exploration as well as for monitoring natural hazards, this thesis focuses on understanding and overcoming the challenges of extending the applicability of microsystems to temperatures above 600°C as well as chemically harsh environments. Alumina and zirconia high-temperature co-fired ceramics (HTCC) with platinum as the conductor material, have in this thesis, been used to manufacture a wide range of high-temperature tolerant miniaturized sensors and actuators, including pressure and flow sensors, valves, a combustor, and liquid monopropellant microthrusters.
