  1. 1. A Kerr-full Study of Higher-Spin Amplitudes : An on-shell construction of higher-spin amplitudes for black holes and strings

    Author : Paolo Pichini; Henrik Johansson; Donal O'Connell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scattering amplitudes; higher-spin theory; black holes; string theory; gravitational waves; Theoretical Physics; Teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : Recently, it was shown that Kerr black holes can be described via the classical infinite-spin limit of a special class of scattering amplitudes in a massive higher-spin quantum field theory. Although this approach has successfully obtained state-of-the-art results for spinning black-hole binaries, only the three-point amplitude that describes Kerr is known in full generality and a full understanding of the underlying Lagrangian is still missing. 2. 2. Pion and Kaon Dynamics at Higher Orders in Chiral Perturbation Theory

    Author : Pierre Dhonte; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; chiral perturbation theory; strong interactions; pseudo-scalar mesons; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; form factors; scattering; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Dhonte;

    Abstract : Higher orders calculations of processes involving the pion and kaon pseudo-scalar mesons are presented in the framework of three flavour Chiral Perturbation Theory. The purpose is two-fold. First determining the low energy constants of ChPT that are necessary for higher accuracy predictions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electron-Phonon Interactions in Transition Metal Oxides Studied by Resonance Raman Scattering

    Author : Jakob Andreasson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Franck-Condon; Fr ohlich interaction; higher order scattering; perovskite; transition metal oxide; two-phonon; oxygen breathing mode; Raman spectroscopy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, studies of strong electron-phonon interactions in a number of transition metal oxides are presented. Two different electron-phonon interaction mechanisms are identified; Franck-Condon scattering and infrared active longitudinal optical (IR LO) two-phonon activation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Higher Order Finite Elements and Adaptivity in Computational Electromagnetics

    Author : Pär Ingelström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with efficient and accurate numerical methods for the solution of Maxwell's equations. In particular, the finite element method with higher order elements and adaptive mesh-refinement is considered. READ MORE

  5. 5. Jet Production and Parton Dynamics in Deep Inelastic Scattering

    Author : Mattias Davidsson; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum field theory; Elementary particle physics; DIS; ep scattering; HERA; H1; jets; small-x; Parton Dynamics; Elementarpartikelfysik; kvantfältteori; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Davidsson;

    Abstract : Hard QCD processes have been studied by measuring the di-jet event rate for deep inelastic scattering in the kinematic range 5 < Q2 < 100 GeV2 and 10-4 < x < 10-2. The jets we re reconstructed using the cone algorithm in the hadronic center-of-mass frame in which the transverse momentum of the jets were required to be greater than 5 GeV. READ MORE
