  1. 1. Modeling of Hindered Diffusion in Gels

    Author : Jan Gutenwik; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; effective diffusion coefficient; pore size distribution; obstruction; immobilization; modeling; adsorption kinetics; hindered diffusion; simulation program; proteins; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : Hindered diffusion occurs in the most different processes, as has been described in this thesis. It is very important to have an understanding of the influence of hindered diffusion on the mass transfer rate, especially when competing rate processes are acting simultaneously. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hindered diffusion of nanoparticles

    Author : Ananda Subramani Kannan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brownian motion; Hydrodynamic interactions; Multiphase DNS; Mobility; Langevin-immersed boundary method; Colloids; Aerosols; Nanoscale and Rarefied gas.;

    Abstract : Brownian theory provides us with a powerful tool which can be used to delve into a microscopic world of molecules, cells and nanoparticles, that was originally presumed to be beyond our reach. Consequently, modeling the inherent dynamics of a system through a Brownian transport equation is of relevance to several real-word problems that involve nanoparticles including, the transport and mitigation of particulate matter (PM) generated though fossil fuel combustion and nanocarrier mediated drug delivery. 3. 3. Hydrogen in nano-sized metals : Diffusion and hysteresis effects

    Author : Wen Huang; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Max Wolff; Gavin Walker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Hydrogen; diffusion; hysteresis; optical technique; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : Metal hydrides can be used as hydrogen storage materials for fuel cells and batteries, and as sensors for detecting hydrogen gas. The use of metal hydrides for hydrogen storage can be hindered by poor kinetics and low capacity. Moreover, poor sensitivity, long recovery and response time, limit the applications of metal hydrides as hydrogen sensors. READ MORE

  4. 4. Small Molecule Diffusion in Spherulitic Polyethylene : Experimental Results and Simulations

    Author : Alessandro Mattozzi; Ulf W. Gedde; Alan H. Windle; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion; polyethylene; poly ethylene-co-octene ; free volume; morphology; intermediate phase; spherulite; Monte Carlo simulation; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The diffusion of small-molecule penetrants in polyethylene is hindered by impenetrable crystals and by the segmental constraints imposed by the crystals on the penetrable phase. Liquid and vapour n-hexane sorption/desorption measurements were performed on metallocene catalyzed homogenous poly(ethylene-co-octene)s. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrochemical Studies of Redox Properties and Diffusion in Self-Assembled Systems

    Author : Johan Kostela; Mats Almgren; Maja Elmgren; Martin Malmsten; Renata Bilewicz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; electrochemistry; self-assembly; bicontinuos cubic phase; redox potential; diffusion; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis electron transfer reactions and diffusion of redox molecules in three different types of self-aggregated structures are investigated. Electrochemistry was used to investigate the redox potential and diffusion coefficients for redox active molecules with different polarity. The first aggregate system studied was the micellar phase.
