  1. 1. Cell Sorting in Pillar Arrays based on Electrokinetics and Morphology

    Author : Bao Dang Ho; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell Sorting; Label-Free Separation; Deterministic Lateral Displacement; Electrokinetics; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Dang Ho;

    Abstract : Deterministic Lateral Displacement (DLD) is a method capable of sorting cells based on size where mechanicalinteractions between a sufficiently large particle and obstacles in a microfludic pillar array force the particle tofollow a different trajectory than their smaller counterparts, resulting in continuous lateral separation. To extendthe capability of DLD, electrical interaction between particles and pillars can be employed to complement themechanical interaction, making electrical/dielectric properties additional parameters for sorting. 2. 2. Optimal tax mixes

    Author : No-Ho Park; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Välfärdsteori;

    Abstract : The three self-contained papers and the note that constitute this thesis analyze the structure of optimal tax mixes in a general-equilibrium economy of heterogeneous individuals incorporating the issue of optimal provision of a pure public good in the last two papers. Paper I deals with the topics in an atemporal model of two individuals differing in their innate production abilities for different policy objectives using a Cobb-Douglas utility function. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reappraisal of market efficiency tests arising from nonlinear dependence, fractals, and dynamical systems theory

    Author : Gun-Ho Cha; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) has long been perceived as the cornerstone of modern finance theory. However, the EMH has also recently been dismissed as "the most remarkable error in the history of economic theory" (Wall Street Journal, Oct. 23. 1987). READ MORE

  4. 4. Structure and Function of HAMLET: Epitopes, Membrane Interactions and Molecular Recognition

    Author : Chin Shing Ho; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : HAMLET (Human Alpha-lactalbumin Made LEthal to Tumor cells) is a complex of partially unfolded human alpha-lactalbumin and oleic acid that kills many different types of tumor cells and shows therapeutic efficacy in animal models and clinical studies. This thesis aims to (1) elucidate the structure of HAMLET and the exposure of biologically active domains, (2) define the contribution of lipids to the tumoricidal effect of HAMLET, (3) characterize the membranes response to HAMLET and the perturbation of membrane associated signaling cascades, (4) use proteomic screens to identify conserved features of HAMLET targets in tumor cells. 5. 5. Some results on closed-loop identification of quadcopters

    Author : Du Ho; Martin Enqvist; Gustaf Hendeby; Alexander Medvedev; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In recent years, the quadcopter has become a popular platform both in research activities and in industrial development. Its success is due to its increased performance and capabilities, where modeling and control synthesis play essential roles. READ MORE
