  1. 1. Structure-Function Relationships in RuII Complexes with Unconventional Ligands: Photophysical and Photochemical Studies

    Author : Joachim Wallenstein; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; structure-function relationship; spectral component analysis; photochemistry; RuII complexes; photoreaction; hole-transfer;

    Abstract : The rich photophysics, photochemistry and electrochemistry of RuII complexes have attracted intense research interest in widely disparate fields. A large portion of the studied and applied complexes are derived from the archetypical [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy is 2,2’-bipyridine), which absorbs in the visible region, displays a long lived (~1 μs), emissive metal-to-ligand charge transfer state, and shows reversible electrochemistry in both the ground and excited state. 2. 2. Studying Morphology Formation and Charge Separation in Organic Solar Cells

    Author : Yanfeng Liu; Fengling Zhang; Olle Inganäs; Jonas Bergqvist; Christoph J. Brabec; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : We are currently living in the era of automation and artificial intelligence, which requires more energy than ever before. Meanwhile, the reduction of carbon footprint is needed for keeping the environment sustainable. Exploring green energy is crucial. Solar power is one of the green energy sources. READ MORE

  3. 3. Charge carrier dynamics in colloidal quantum dots: Tracking the dance of electrons and holes by ultrashort laser pulses

    Author : Nils Lenngren; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CdSe; quantum dots; ultrafast spectroscopy; charge carrier dynamics;

    Abstract : Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor nanocrystals with quantum confinement. This thesis uses various time-resolved spectroscopic techniques to study ultrafast charge carrier dynamics in colloidal CdSe quantum dots that are important both from a theoretical point of view and for their relevance for solar cell applications. 4. 4. Design and fabrication of multiple quantum well structures for long wavelength laser diodes

    Author : Christofer Silfvenius; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : InGaAsP multiple quantum well (MQW) structures emitting at1300 nm have been designed, fabricated with metal organicvapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) and evaluated by x-ray diffraction(XRD), photoluminescence (PL) and by laser characterisation. Inaddition the structures were subject to scanning probemicroscopy (STM/AFM) and direct carrier transport measurements. READ MORE

  5. 5. Intramolecular electron transfer in DNA and ruthenium(II) systems

    Author : Johan Olofsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solvent relaxation; light switch effect; dppz; electron transfer and hydrogen bond;

    Abstract : When ruthenium(II) complexes with heteroaromatic ligands absorb light, an electron is pushed from the metal ion out into one of the ligands, a process called metal-to-ligand-charge-transfer (MLCT). The resulting excited state can be used to initiate further electron transfer processes, or it can decay relatively slow back into the ground state with the emission of light. READ MORE
