  1. 1. p63 and epithelial homeostasis : studies of p63 under normal, hyper-proliferative and malignant conditions

    Author : Xiaolian Gu; Karin Nylander; Antonio Costanzo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; p63; psoriasis; SCCHN; epithelium; homeostasis; Pathology; Patologi; patologi; Pathology;

    Abstract : Background: The p63 gene is a member of the p53 transcription factor family and can produce six different proteins using two promoters and differential splicing. Expression of p63 is required for proper formation of epithelial tissues. READ MORE

  2. 2. Vitamin A regulated neuronal regeneration and homeostasis

    Author : Sofia Håglin; Anna Berghard; Staffan Bohm; Leif Carlsson; Ola Hermanson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Activity dependent; Adult stem cells; Ageing; CYP26B1; Homeostasis; Metaplasia; Neurogenesis; Olfactory epithelium; Regeneration; Respiratory epithelium; Retinoic acid; Sensory map; Vitamin A;

    Abstract : The olfactory epithelium is a dynamic tissue maintained by continuous neurogenesis throughout life. Upon injury, neurons and other olfactory cell types are regenerated through proliferation of horizontal stem cells. Some genes that regulate vitamin A metabolism are spatially expressed in the olfactory epithelium. READ MORE

  3. 3. T-cell Differentiation and Immunological Homeostasis in Lymphopenic and Kappa Light Chain Deficient Mice

    Author : Frida Ekholm Pettersson; Fredrik Ivars; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; T cells; differentiation; homeostasis; cytokines; mice; SCID; κ-deficient; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : T lymphocytes are primarily involved in adaptive, cell-mediated, immune reactions. In this thesis T cells were studied regarding central and peripheral differentiation and homeostatic mechanisms for maintanance of the immune repertoire.The influence by mature T cells on thymic development was studied in C. 4. 4. Cholesterol in T cells : homeostasis, plasma membrane organization and signaling

    Author : Saleemulla Mahammad; Ingela Parmryd; Thomas Harder; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane; T cells; Cholesterol; Lipid rafts; Membrane organization; Cholesterol homeostasis; cholesteryl esters; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells contains cholesterol and glycosphingolipids enriched nanodomains known as lipid rafts; which are believed to exist in a liquid ordered (lo) state. Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MBCD) is used to deplete cellular cholesterol and a widespread assumption is that MBCD preferentially targets cholesterol in lipid rafts. READ MORE
