    Abstract : Nostoc PCC 73102 is an evolutionary important cyanobacterium with multiple phenotypic traits and symbiotic capacities. Based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, a proteomic approach was developed in order to obtain protein profiles of this symbiotically competent cyanobacterium during three trophic types/life stages: free-living photo-autotrophic and diazotrophic growth conditions, dark heterotrophic conditions and hormogonium formation. 2. 2. Specificity in natural and artificial cyanobacterial symbioses

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Botany, Stockholm University

    Author : Malin Nilsson; Kristina Lindström; ; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Organism biology Plant physiology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Organismbiologi Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Abstract : Cyanobacteria, primarily of the genus Nostoc, form symbioses with a wide variety of plants. The diversity of cyanobacterial strains in these symbioses, and the specificity of interaction, vary greatly. A high diversity at the strain level has been suggested for bryophytes and cycads, whereas a low diversity is found in lichens. READ MORE
