1. Hormonal Regulation of Vaginal Mucosa
Abstract : Vaginal atrophy symptoms such as dryness, irritation, and itching, are common after menopause. Vaginal estrogen therapy is the most effective treatment but not appropriate for all women. READ MORE

2. Hormonal regulation of phosphodiesterase 3B in adipocytes
Abstract : Insulin induced activation of the cAMP degrading enzyme phosphodiesterase (PDE) 3B in adipocytes is important for insulin mediated inhibition of lipolysis. The aim of this thesis was to contribute with knowledge on the acute activation of PDE3B in response to insulin and catecholamines in adipocytes. READ MORE

3. Hormonal regulation of liver and tumor growth
Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the regulatory functions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) on liver growth, and the importance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the HGF receptor (Met) for growth of mesenchyme-derived tumors. The studies on different types of liver growth, measured as weight, DNA and protein content, and DNA synthesis, were performed on mice lacking the IL-6 or the TNF receptor-1 gene back-crossed to the C57bl/6 strain. 4. Protein kinases in hormonal regulation of adipocyte metabolism
Abstract : Abstract Along with liver and muscle tissue, adipose tissue helps maintain normal levels of glucose and lipids in the blood and has a very important role when it comes to storing lipids that can provide whole-body energy. After a meal is ingested, adipocytes take up glucose from the circulation and use it as a substrate for synthesis of new fatty acids (FAs) in a process known as de novo fatty acid synthesis, as well as for synthesis of glycerol.
