In self-admission, patients with a history of high utilization of inpatient treatment are offered the choice to decide for themselves when an episode of brief hospital admission—usually 3-7 days at a time—is warranted.     Abstract : This thesis is a part of a prospective multi-centre study concerning psychosocial aspects of importance for the onset and course of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM).
