  1. 1. An Integrated Approach towards Model-Based Mechatronic Design

    Author : Ahsan Qamar; Jan Wikander; Hans Vangheluwe; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mechatronics; mechatronic design; development process; conceptual design; model-based systems engineering MBSE ; model integration; SysML; model-driven engineering; consistency; Industrial engineering and economy; Industriell teknik och ekonomi; Software engineering; Programvaruteknik; Systems engineering; Systemteknik;

    Abstract : Mechatronic design is an enigma. On the one hand, mechatronic products promise enhanced functionality, and better performance at reduced cost. On the other hand, optimizing mechatronic design concepts is a major challenge to overcome during the design process. READ MORE

  2. 2. Statistical methods for register based studies with applications to stroke

    Author : Anita Lindmark; Marie Eriksson; Xavier de Luna; Eva-Lotta Glader; Saskia le Cessie; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Registers; quality of care; socioeconomic status; hospital performance; stroke; mediation; sensitivity analysis; truncation; censoring; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis adds to the area of register based research, with a particular focus on health care quality and (in)equality. Contributions are made to the areas of hospital performance benchmarking, mediation analysis, and regression when the outcome variable is limited, with applications related to Riksstroke (the Swedish stroke register). 4. 4. Prevention of bacterial colonization in hospital-acquired infections using electrically conducting polymers

    Author : Salvador Gomez-Carretero; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Biofilms are bacterial assemblies developed as response to adverse environmental conditions and external threats. Within a biofilm, a complex and highly regulated internal architecture is developed, resulting in a network of interconnected microniches. READ MORE

  5. 5. Software Solutions for Nuclear Imaging Systems in Cardiology, Small Animal Research and Education

    Author : Iván Valastyán; Andras Kerek; Michael Ljungberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : The sensitivity for observing physiological processes makes nuclear imaging an important tool in medical diagnostics. Different types of nuclear imaging modalities, with emphasis on the software components and image reconstructions, are presented in this thesis:  the Cardiotom for myocardial heart studies at the Karolinska University Hospital, the small animal Positron Emission Tomograph (PET) scanners for research and the SPECT, PET, spiral CT and Cardiotom demonstrators for the Royal Institute of Technology medical imaging laboratory.
