1. The cell line RN33B transplanted to adult retina
Abstract : The thesis describes the neural precursor cell line RN33B transplanted subretinally to adult healthy and young dystrophic rat retina. The cell line is generated from E12,5 rat raphe nucleus and transduced with the temperature sensitive mutant of the Simian Virus 40 (SV40) large T-antigen. READ MORE

2. Use of neural progenitor cell lines and astrocytes for transplantation and gene transfer to the CNS
Abstract : Intracerebral neuronal transplantation have been shown to ameliorate symptoms of brain dysfunction in both animals models and Parkinson's disease, although problems still remain. The newly introduced technique of ex vivo gene transfer could serve as an alternative approach, possible avoiding some of the draw-backs of the embryonal tissue used in neuronal grafting. READ MORE

3. On the influence of glia on neurite outgrowth from dopamine neurons in the nigrostriatal system
Abstract : Interactions between glial cells and neurons are important during fetal development, in the maintenance of the normal functions in tile central nervous system (CNS), arid in response to injuries or diseases. Some of die motor disturbances in Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder where one of the hallmarks is degeneration of dopamine (DA) neurons and concomitant depletion of DA in striatum, can be alleviated by intrastriatal grafting of embryonic DA tissue. 4. Schwann cells and mesenchymal stem cells as promoter of peripheral nerve regeneration
Abstract : The transplantation of primary Schwann cells (SC) has been shown to improve nerve regeneration. However, to monitor the survival of transplanted cells within the host, a stable labelling method is required. READ MORE

5. Biosynthetic conduits and cell transplantation for neural repair
Abstract : Spinal cord injury results in complete failure of the central neurons to regenerate and is associated with cyst formation and enlargement of the trauma zone. In contrast to the spinal cord, axons in the injured peripheral nerve have the capacity to undergo some spontaneous regeneration. READ MORE
