  1. 11. Studies in Semantic Modeling of Real-World Objects using Perceptual Anchoring

    Author : Andreas Persson; Amy Loutfi; Alessandro Saffiotti; Severin Lemaignan; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perceptual Anchoring; Semantic World Modeling; Sensor-Driven Acquisition of Data; Object Recognition; Object Classification; Symbol Grounding; Probabilistic Object Tracking;

    Abstract : Autonomous agents, situated in real-world scenarios, need to maintain consonance between the perceived world (through sensory capabilities) and their internal representation of the world in the form of symbolic knowledge. An approach for modeling such representations of objects is through the concept of perceptual anchoring, which, by definition, handles the problem of creating and maintaining, in time and space, the correspondence between symbols and sensor data that refer to the same physical object in the external world. 2. 12. Modeling and exploring human IRE1 as a strategy to design novel inhibitors: a computational approach

    Author : Antonio Carlesso; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ER stress; unfolded protein response; cancer; inflammation; neurodegeneration; therapeutic targets; molecular docking; molecular dynamics;

    Abstract : Inositol Requiring Enzyme 1 (IRE1) is a bifunctional serine/threonine kinase and endoribonuclease that is the major mediator of the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) during endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. The association of IRE1 dysregulation with a wide range of human diseases, stimulated research towards the discovery of small organic molecules able to modulate IRE1 signalling, and to potentially be used as novel therapeutics. 3. 13. Drivers’ response to attentional demand in automated driving

    Author : Alberto Morando; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vehicle automation; naturalistic data; human factors.; driving simulator data; visual behavior; response process; Attention;

    Abstract : Vehicle automation can make driving safer; it can compensate for human impairments that are recognized as the leading cause of crashes. Vehicle automation has become a central topic in transportation and human factors research. READ MORE

  4. 14. Interactions of human C4BP with Bordetella pertussis and Streptococcus pyogenes

    Author : Karin Berggård; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; M protein; antigenic variation; phagocytosis resistance; complement; C4b-binding protein C4BP ; Bordetella pertussis; Streptococcus pyogenes; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : Many microorganisms have developed mechanisms to protect themselves against attack from the complement system of the host. One possible mechanism for a microorganism to evade complement attack is to bind a human complement regulator, which may allow the microorganism to down-regulate complement activation. READ MORE

  5. 15. On diverse biophysical aspects of genetics : from the action of regulators to the characterization of transcripts

    Author : Aymeric Fouquier D´Hérouel; Erik Aurell; Felix Ritort; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription regulation; regulatory motifs; binding affinity; genetic interactions; secondary structure; sequence repeats; transcript characterization; Biological physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : Genetics is among the most rewarding fields of biology for the theoretically inclined, offering both room and need for modeling approaches in the light of an abundance of experimental data of different kinds. Many aspects of the field are today understood in terms of physical and chemical models, joined by information theoretical descriptions. READ MORE
