1. Conctraction-mediating receptors in human peripheral vessels with special reference to veins and lymphatics
Abstract : By means of a myograph, postjunctional alpha-adrenoceptors were characterized in human superficial epigastric arteries and veins obtained from health subjects. The rank order of potency of subtype selective agonists could not be used for receptor characterization in these vessels, whereas antagonists gave distinct results. READ MORE

2. Human Endometrial Angiogenesis : An Immunohistochemical Study of the Endometrial Expression of Angiogenic Growth Factors and Their Corresponding Receptors
Abstract : The human endometrium undergoes dramatic changes in morphology and function during the menstrual cycle. Recurrent angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) is of utmost importance for oxygen supply and nourishment of the rapidly growing endometrial tissue. READ MORE

3. Endothelin and angiotensin II receptors in human coronary arteries and bypass grafts - Alterations in cardiovascular disease
Abstract : Angiotensin II (Ang II) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) induce strong vasoconstriction via activation of receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells. In this thesis, the contractile Ang II and endothelin receptors were examined in endothelium-denuded human coronary arteries and in bypass grafts (the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein), with focus on receptor alterations in cardiovascular disease. 4. Modeling Residual Stress Fields in Soft Tissues : with Application to Human Arteries
Abstract : Biomechanics or Mechanics of Biology comprises many different fields. This thesis deals with soft tissues or living tissues and the fact that these materials live in a pressurized environment. This means that an unloaded tissue may not be stress free. The stress in an unloaded body is usually called residual stress. READ MORE

5. The Ovulatory Process. Studies in the human and the rabbit
Abstract : Background and general summary: Ovulation is the cascade of events ending with follicular rupture and oocyte extrusion. This ovulatory process is triggered by the LH surge, which induces biochemical and biophysical alterations within the preovulatory follicle. READ MORE
