  1. 1. Somatic Genetic Variation in Children: from Mosaicism to Cancer

University dissertation from Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

Author : Anders Valind; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2017-12-15]

Abstract : This thesis concerns various aspects of somatic mosaicism and genetic intratumor heterogeneity in childhood cancer. In paper I, I show that aneuploidy in itself does not lead to the level of chromosomal instability that is typically seen in malignant cells. This finding strongly argues against the so called autocatalytic theory of carcinogenesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cancer and Inflammation Role of Macrophages and Monocytes

University dissertation from Karlstad : Karlstads universitet

Author : Alexander Hedbrant; Karlstads universitet.; [2015]

Abstract : Macrophages are cells of the innate immune system that can be found in large quantities in cancer tumors and affect cancer progression by regulating growth and invasiveness of cancer cells. There are two main phenotypes of macrophages denoted M1 and M2. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cancer Immunotherapy A Preclinical Study of Urinary Bladder Cancer

Abstract : Adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) is widely used as an oncolytic agent for cancer therapy. However, its infectivity is highly dependent on the expression level of coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor (CAR) on the surface of tumor cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Wnt-5a Signalling in Human Mammary Cells: Implications for the Development of Breast Cancer

University dissertation from Department of Oncology, Clinical Sciences, Lund University

Abstract : The Wnt-5a gene encodes a secreted protein that regulates several normal processes in embryonic and adult tissues by as yet unknown mechanisms. Expression of Wnt-5a protein does not cause cell transformation, but it instead counteracts the effects induced by transforming Wnts. READ MORE
