  1. 6. Manufacturing Dynamics and Performance Evaluation

    Author : Tigist Fetene Adane; Andreas Archenti; Mihai Nicolescu; Amos Ng; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing system and strategy; performance evaluation; manufacturing dynamics; decision-making; system dynamics; sustainable and energy efficient manufacturing; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Abstract : Manufacturing companies are striving to remain competitive in the market and maintain their economic growth and productivity. Uncertainties regarding the changes in product demand, workpiece material, product design, and technological advancement, have imposed pressure on manufacturing systems. READ MORE

  2. 7. Quantifying Operability of Working Machines

    Author : Reno Filla; Jan-Ove Palmberg; Kjell Ohlsson; Jonas Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Operability; machine harmony; operator workload; control effort; simulation; operator model; human operator; working machines; construction equipment; wheel loaders; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : In working machines the human operator is essential for the performance of the total system. Productivity and energy efficiency are both dependent not only on inherent machine properties and working place conditions, but also on how the operator manoeuvres the machine. READ MORE

  3. 8. Oligomerization of human and bacterial frataxin : Structural and functional studies

    Author : Mostafa Abdalkhalik; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : Frataxin; Friedreich’s ataxia; iron; reactive oxiden species; protein oligomerization; SAXS; EM; cross-linking; XAFS; nano- DSF;

    Abstract : Friedreich’s ataxia (FRDA) is an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disease caused by defeciency in frataxin, a highly conserved protein central to iron homeostasis in mirochondria. The function of frataxin is related to its capability to bind, store and deliver iron to different biochemical process such as iron-sulfur cluster assembly and heme biosynthesis. READ MORE

  4. 9. Gas chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-tandem mass spectrometry methods for the determination of environmental contaminants

    Author : Dawei Geng; Bert van Bavel; Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Jessika Hagberg; Thanh Wang; Heidi Fiedler; Kees Olie; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCDD Fs; PCBs; OCPs; PBDEs; NBFRs; APCI; MS MS; HRMS; human serum; osprey egg; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The recent developments and improvements of instrumental methods for the analyses of the environmental contaminants, especially the persistent organic pollutants (POPs), have made it possible to detect and quantify these at very low concentrations in environmental and biotic matrices.The main objective of this thesis is to demonstrate the capability of the atmospheric pressure chemical ionization technique (APCI), using gas chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of a wide range of environmental contaminants, including the POPs regulated by Stockholm Convention, such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), but also the derivates of PBDEs and novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs). 5. 10. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Swirling Flows and Turbulent Premixed Combustion

    Author : Ping Wang; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid dynamics; Gases; flamelet model; flame wrinkle; large eddy simulation; vortex breakdown; turbulent premixed combustion; level set G-equation; swirling flow; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : With the increasing concerns about our environment and human health, more and more stringent emission limits have been specified. These adopted and still coming emission limits require and promote more accurate, less experiential methods to design and develop the combustors. READ MORE
