  1. 1. Osteotropic cytokines : expression in human gingival fibroblasts and effects on bone

    Author : Py Palmqvist; Andersson Göran; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : osteoblasts; osteoclasts; fibroblasts; cytokines; IL-6; LIF; OSM; IL-4; IL-3; bone resorption; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Bone metabolism is regulated by endocrine and paracrine signalling molecules influencing bone cells in the continuously remodelling bone tissue. These molecules include a variety of osteotropic stimulatory and inhibitory cytokines. READ MORE

  2. 2. Regulation of prostaglandin E2 synthesis in human gingival fibroblasts

    Author : Tülay Yucel-Lindberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : prostaglandin E2; cyclooxygenase; phospholipase A2 interleukin-1; tumor necrosis factor [alpha]; epidermal growth factor; protein kinase C; tyrosine kinases; human gingival fibroblasts;

    Abstract : Prostaglandins, especially, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) play an important role in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis. The aim of the present thesis was to study the production and the regulation of PGE2 with special reference to the key enzymes phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and cyclooxygenase (COX) at the rnRNA level in human gingival fibroblasts. 3. 3. Expression and regulation of MMP-1 and MMP-3 in human gingival fibroblasts

    Author : Helena Domeij; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Matrix metalloproteinases; tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases; gingival fibroblasts; monocytes; periodontal diseases;

    Abstract : Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of proteolytic enzymes collectively responsible for the metabolism of extra cellular matrix components. Disturbance of the physiological balance between MMPs and their endogenous inhibitors, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), is implicated in several inflammatory diseases characterized by tissue degradation. 4. 4. Studies on uptake and effect of triclosan on production of inflammatory mediators in human gingival fibroblasts

    Author : Manal Mustafa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Triclosan; gingival fibroblasts; IL-beta; IFN-gamma; MHC class II; PGE2; mPGES-1;

    Abstract : Triclosan (2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxy-diphenyl ether) is a lipid soluble anti-bacterial agent widely used in dentifrices, mouthrinses, soap and cosmetics. Although reports on the efficacy of triclosan on periodontal diseases are conflicting, it is documented in clinical studies that dentifrices containing triclosan reduce plaque accumulation and improve gingival health. 5. 5. Effect of surface characteristics on cellular adherence and activity

    Author : Marjan Dorkhan; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bacteria; microbial biofilm; dental implant; streptococci; oral bacteria; salivary pellicle; early colonizers; titanium oxide; microbial activity; oral keratinocytes; gingival fibroblasts; cell attachment; surface modification; anodic oxidation; anatase;

    Abstract : Ersättning av förlorade tänder med tandimplantat är numera en vanlig behandlingsmetod med generellt goda resultat. Antalet implantatsystem på den internationella marknaden har ökat kraftigt under senare år. READ MORE
