  1. 6. Modelling of cathode-plasma interaction in short high-intensity electric arc : Application to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

    Author : Alireza Javidi Shirvan; Isabelle Choquet; Håkan Nilsson; Armelle Vardelle; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electric arc discharge; sheath; pre-sheath; Knudsen layer; doped refractory cathode; arc-cathode coupling; Gas Tungsten Arc simulation; OpenFOAM.; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : In arc welding the quality of the weld is strongly influenced by the thermal history of the workpiece which is itself governed by the electric arc heat source. The models for predicting weld properties thus need a good evaluation of the distribution of the heat input from thearc to the workpiece. READ MORE

  2. 7. Proteomics-informed analysis of drug disposition in the human liver and small intestine

    Author : Christine Wegler; Per Artursson; Pär Matsson; Tommy B Andersson; Manthena Varma; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proteomics; protein concentration; drug disposition; drug transport; drug metabolism; human small intestine; human liver; human hepatocytes; human liver microsomes; inter-individual variability; drug clearance; obesity; prediction model; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Orally administered drugs are absorbed in the intestine and generally metabolized in the liver. Therefore, understanding factors determining drug distribution and elimination in these tissues is important. READ MORE

  3. 8. High dynamic stiffness nano-structured composites for vibration control : A Study of applications in joint interfaces and machining systems

    Author : Qilin Fu; Cornel-Mihai Nicolescu; Per Nylén; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vibration control; High dynamic stiffness; Metal matrix composite; Nano structures; Plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition PECVD ; High power impulse magnetron sputtering HiPIMS ; Adiabatic; Machining; Regenerative tool chatter; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Abstract : Vibration control requires high dynamic stiffness in mechanical structures for a reliable performance under extreme conditions. Dynamic stiffness composes the parameters of stiffness (K) and damping (η) that are usually in a trade-off relationship. This thesis study aims to break the trade-off relationship. READ MORE

  4. 9. Antimicrobial activity of human seminal plasma and seminal plasma proteins

    Author : Anneli Edström; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; semenogelin; antibacterial peptides; antifungal peptides; seminal plasma; antimicrobial peptides; vaginal pH; beta-microseminoprotein; peptides;

    Abstract : Seminal plasma is semen without the spermatozoa. Human seminal plasma is a complex mixture of secretions from the sex accessory glands, mainly the seminal vesicles and the prostate. Seminal plasma has high protein content and it also contains ions, sugars and low molecular weight components. READ MORE

  5. 10. Metabolism and Biological Monitoring of Organic Acid Anhydrides

    Author : Christian Lindh; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rats; human; distribution; analysis; biological monitoring; autoradiography; adducts; hemoglobin; plasma; urine; Hexahydrophthalic anhydride; methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride; guinea pigs; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to describe the metabolism and to develope methods for biological monitoring for two organic acid anhydrides (OAAs), namely hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA) and methylhexa-hydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA). The OAAs are reactive, low molecular weight chemicals used in vast quantities in the industry. READ MORE
