  1. 1. Perspectives on the Biological Role of Human Prostasomes

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lena Carlsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; Prostasomes; cryopreservation; human spermatozoa; sperm motility; anti- prostasome antibodies; PC-3 cells; Bacillus megaterium; antibacterial; antisperm antibodies; complement activation; sperm agglutination; infertility; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Prostasomes are extracellularly occurring organelles which are secreted in human semen by the prostate gland. Prostasomes have several known biological activities, but their physiological function is still unclear. In this thesis some new aspects were studied on the biological role of the prostasomes. 2. 2. Zinc and human sperm chromatin

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Author : Svante Kjellberg; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [1993]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : X-rny microanalysis, Sephadex® chromatography of seminal plasma and exposure of spermatozoa to sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), were methods used to study the zinc content of sperm chromatin, the nature of the zinc binding ligands present in seminal plasma and the stability of the sperm chromatin in whole semen samples from fertile and infertile men. Split ejaculates were used to study the same variables in different fractions of the same ejaculate. READ MORE

  3. 3. GABA and human spermatozoa : characterization and regulation of GABA transport proteins

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, false

    Author : Arthur Aanesen; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GABA; spermatozoa; GABA transport; acrosome reaction; sperm motility; progesterone; protein kinase C; GAT-1; GAT-2; GAT-3; BGT-1;

    Abstract : The present project aimed at investigating the interaction between GABA and human spermatozoa under in vitro conditions. Our initial hypothesis was that human spermatozoa had specific binding proteins for GABA and that the binding of GABA to such binding sites could affect sperm fimction. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of the regulation of human sperm motility

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Women's and Children's Health

    Author : Pär K.G. Leijonhufvud; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis I address some of the possible causes for oligozoospermia and low sperm motility, two factors that, singly or in combination, are often seen in cases of male subfertility. In the first study we evaluated the effect on human spermatozoa of the toxicity of compounds present in diesel exhaust. READ MORE

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Mikroorganismer (bakterier, virus och protozoer) finns överallt I vår omgivning. Vi människor har tio gånger fler bakterier på och i oss än vi har mänskliga celler. De flesta bakterier orsakar sällan eller aldrig sjukdom, men det finns de som ofta orsakar sjukdom och dessa kallas patogener. READ MORE
