  1. 1. Mechanical Behaviour of Wood Exposed to Humidity Variations

    Author : Annika Mårtensson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; KstrWood;

    Abstract : The effects on wood of simultaneous mechanical and moisture loading are studied. In order to clarify the mechano-sorptive behaviour of wood, a review of different phenomena presented in the literature is included. Compressive tests have been performed on spruce. The tests have been performed with both constant load and varying load. READ MORE

  2. 2. Internal Stresses in Wood Caused by Climate Variations

    Author : Staffan Svensson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Construction technology; climate variations.; sawn timber; kiln drying; mechano-sorption; hygro-mechanical; Wood; material testing; Anläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis is the result of a series of investigations on the hygro-mechanical behaviour of clear wood in the radial and tangential directions. Approximately half of the effort put into the investigations was concentrated on laboratory tests while the remaining effort was concentrated on modelling the observations made in the tests. 3. 3. Steel-to-timber dowel joints : Influence of moisture induced stresses

    Author : Johan Sjödin; Hans Petersson; Carl-Johan Johansson; Per-Johan Gustavsson; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constraint stresses; contact-free measurement; dowel-type joints; humidity variations; moisture-induced deformations; timber structures; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Joints are critical parts of timber structures, transmitting static and dynamic forces between structural members. The ultimate behavior of a loaded building depends strongly on the structural configuration and the capacity of the joints. READ MORE

  4. 4. Strength and Moisture Aspects of Steel Timber Dowel Joints in Glulam Structures : An Experimental and Numerical Study

    Author : Johan Sjödin; Erik Serrano; Per Johan Gustafsson; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constraint stresses; contact-free measurement; dowel-type joints; humidity variations; glu-lam beams; glulam structures; linear elastic fracture mechanics; moisture-induced stresses; numerical simulations; short term capacity.; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : Joints are critical parts of timber structures, transmitting static and dynamic forces between structural members. The ultimate behavior of e.g. a building depends strongly on the structural configuration and the capacity of its joints. READ MORE

  5. 5. Stormy records from peat bogs in south-west Sweden : implications for regional climatic variability and vegetation changes during the past 6500 years

    Author : Rixt de Jong; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Holocene climate; south-west Sweden; aeolian activity; humidity changes; vegetation development; REVEALS vegetation modelling; atmospheric circulation changes; peat sediments;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to reconstruct and explain variations in storm activity, humidity, vegetation composition and land cover in south-west Sweden during the past 6500 years. Two ombrotrophic bogs, Store Mosse and Undarsmosse, situated on the coastal plain of Halland, were selected for this purpose. READ MORE
