11. Hyaluronan Derivatives and Injectable Gels for Tissue Engineering
Abstract : The present work describes the preparation of hyaluronan derivatives and hydrogels with potential use in tissue engineering applications. A potentially injectable hydrogel consisting of hyaluronan and collagen was successfully used to grow neurons in vitro by encapsulation of neural stem and progenitor cells. READ MORE

12. Multi-functional Hyaluronan Based Biomaterials for Biomedical Applications
Abstract : This thesis presents strategies for constructing multi-functional biomaterials based on hyaluronan (HA) derivatives for various biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and imaging biomaterials. The aim of this study is to improve the functionalities of HA biomaterials as well as simplify the preparation procedures. READ MORE

13. Importance of Hyaluronan Metabolism and Signalling in Tumour Progression
Abstract : Hyaluronan, an unbranched glycosaminoglycan of the extracellular matrix, has an amazingly simple structure. Initially thought to fulfil only hydrating and space-filling functions in tissues, evidence generated during the past decades shows that hyaluronan is involved in intriguingly complex signalling events in health and disease. 14. Lung hyaluronan and lung water in the perinatal period
Abstract : Hyaluronan is an important component of the lung extracellular matrix, with a high capacity for water immobilization, but information on perinatal changes in the lung hyaluronan concentration and their association with changes in the lung water content is limited. In this study, conducted both in rabbit pups and in human infants, we investigated changes in the hyaluronan concentration and distribution in the lung and in the lung water content after preterm or term birth, and changes produced by common antenatal and postnatal pathological conditions and treatments. 15. Hyaluronan Based Biomaterials with Imaging Capacity for Tissue Engineering
Abstract : This thesis presents the preparation of hyaluronan-based biomaterials with imaging capability and their application as scaffolds in tissue engineering. First, we have synthesized HA derivatives functionalized with different chemoselective groups. READ MORE
