  1. 21. Quantum Transport in Superconductor-Semiconductor Nanowire Hybrid Devices

    Author : Chunlin Yu; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : Nanowire; InSb; Transport; Quantum dot; Majorana bound states; Andreev bound states; the Kondo effect; Superconductivity; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Yu;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we study quantum transport properties of superconductor-semiconductor nanowire hybrid devices. We mainly focus on the quantum transport in InSb nanowire Josephson quantum dot devices, i.e. quantum dots coupled to two pieces of superconductors. READ MORE

  2. 22. Hybrid e-learning for Rural Secondary Schools in Uganda

    Author : Peter Okidi Lating; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; e-learning; rural ICT implementation; Participatory methodology; feminist technoscience;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis is concerned with the development of appropriate tools and implementation of hybrid e-learning to support science and mathematics education of female students in typical rural advanced-level secondary schools. In Uganda few rural female students participate in technology and engineering education in tertiary institutions because they perform poorly in science and mathematics subjects at advanced secondary school level of education. 3. 23. Micro-grids supplied by renewable energy : Improving technical and social feasibility

    Author : Caroline Bastholm; Ewa Wäckelgård; Annette Henning; Frank Fiedler; Kirsten Ulsrud; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rural electrification; Electricity access; Decentralized; Off-grid; Photovoltacs; PV-hybrid; Micro-grid; Multi-disciplinary; Sociotechnical; Engineering Science; Teknisk fysik; Energy and Built Environments;

    Abstract : Universal access to electricity stands high on the global agenda and is regarded as essential for positive development in sectors such as health care, education, poverty reduction, food production and climate change. Decentralized, off-grid electrification is deemed an important complement to centralized grid extension. READ MORE

  4. 24. Contributions to the Modeling and Simulation of Mechanical Systems with Detailed Contact Analyses

    Author : Iakov Nakhimovski; Dag Fritzson; Peter Fritzson; Claus Führer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multibody dynamics simulation; contacts; flexibility; elastic; floating reference frame; hybrid parallel; co-simulation; TLM; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : The motivation for this thesis was the need for further development of multibody dynamics simulation packages focused on detailed contact analysis. The thesis makes contributions in three different areas:Part I summarizes the equations, algorithms and design decisions necessary for dynamics simulation of flexible bodies with moving contacts. Author : David Ståhlberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ITS; morphometry; taxonomy; Systematic botany; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; vegetation analysis; recombination; polyploidy; plastid DNA; niche differentiation; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; morphology; phytogeography; hybrid zone; glacial refugia; Dactylorhiza; flow cytometry; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate and describe different aspects of variation in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex and to relate the variation patterns to underlying biological processes such as Quaternary migration history, hybridization and polyploid evolution. The variation patterns were analysed at various geographic levels using molecular markers (plastid DNA and ITS of nrDNA), cytological data, morphometry and ecological data. READ MORE
