  1. 1. Advancing DNA-based proximity methods

    Author : Mattias Leino; Ola Söderberg; John Löfblom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in situ; proximity dependent intiation of hybridization chain reaction; hybridization chain reaction; Oligonucleotide design; proximity ligation assay; protein interaction; microscopy; purification; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär bioteknik;

    Abstract : Cellular functions are governed by intricate chains of interactions between proteins. In order to properly understand cellular biology one must look into, not only protein function, but also its interacting network. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genital human papillomaviruses. Studies of their occurrence, type spectrum and expression

    Author : Ola Forslund; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA expression; microwell; HPV 70; type determination; CIN; quantification; urine; multifocal infections; hybridization; PCR; HPV; human papillomavirus; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence of genital human papillomavirus infection was determined in different categories of patients by means of PCR. In high proportion of young women attending an adolescent clinic, the presence of HPV DNA was demonstrated in simultaneously urethral and cervical samples, suggesting that genital HPV infections are often multifocal. 3. 3. Development of DNA-based methods for analysis of protein interactions

    Author : Axel Klaesson; Ola Söderberg; Mats Nilsson; Cristina Al-Khalili Szigyarto; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; In situ proximity ligation assay PLA ; rolling circle amplification RCA ; Hybridization chain reaction HCR ; proxHCR; Oligonucleotide design; Protein-protein interactions; Post-translational modifications.; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : In situ proximity ligation assay (PLA) is a method for detection of protein interactions, post-translational modifications (PTMs) and individual proteins that allows information about their localization in a cell or tissue to be extracted. The method is based on oligonucleotide-conjugated antibodies (proximity probes) that upon binding of two epitopes in close proximity give rise to an amplifiable DNA circle. READ MORE

  4. 4. Neurohormonal Modulators in the Parathyroid Gland. Localization and regulation

    Author : Lena Luts; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Receptor; In situ hybridization; Immunocytochemistry; Nitric Oxide Synthase; Endothelin; Neuropeptides; Chromogranin; Parathyroid adenoma; Parathyroid gland; Parathyroid hormone; mRNA; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence and distribution of neurohormonal peptides, neuroendocrine markers and receptors in parathyroid nerve fibers and endocrine cells are described, using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, image analysis and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunocytochemical studies revealed that parathyroid glands of chicken, rat, guinea-pig, cat, dog and sheep contained adrenergic-, cholinergic-, and peptide-containing nerve fibers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Gene and Protein Profiling of the Preeclamptic Placenta

    Author : Magnus Centlow; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antigen presentation; APOA1; hemoglobin; immunohistochemistry; in situ hybridization; Microarray; 2D-PAGE; uterine artery bilateral notching;

    Abstract : Aims State-of-the-art methodology was used to screen and profile the placenta, gene and protein expression, for changes related to preeclampsia (PE) and cases with increased resistance in the uterine arteries. Women with increased resistance in the uterine arteries have increased risk of developing PE. READ MORE
