1. Structural aspecs on compounds in the CsI-(Cd/Hg)I2 system
Abstract : Structural investigations of compounds in the CsI-(Cd/Hg)I2 system have been performed by means of X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and calorimetric techniques. Crystals of the compounds studied were synthesized from aqueous solutions of CsI and CdI2/HgI2 by the slow evaporation of water. READ MORE

2. Sorption Microcalorimetry: Method Development and Applications
Abstract : A double twin isothermal microcalorimeter has been designed and its performance has been tested experimentally. The calorimeter makes it possible to continuously and isothermally scan a solid sample in a broad range of relative vapor pressures at near-equilibrium conditions. READ MORE

3. Synthesis of some oligosaccharides with D-galacto- and D-gluco-configuration and reductive opening of carbo-hydrate acetals
Abstract : Syntheses of the following oligosaccharides, required for immunological studies. are discussed: £-trifluoroacetamidophenyl O-a-D-glucopyranosyl-(1+4)-a-D-galactopyranoside, ß-trifluoroacetamidophenyl O-a-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 + 6)-a-D-galactopyranoside, 8-methoxy- carbonyloct-1-yl 0-a-D-galactopyranosyl-(1+3)-fi-ß~9"9alact°Pyranosyl- (1+4)-2-acetamido-2-deoxy-ß-D-glucopyranoside, methyl û-a-D-fuco- pyranosyl-(1+4)-ß-D-galactopyranoside, methyl û-a-D-galactopyranosyl- (1+4)-ß-D-fucopyranoside and methyl ß-a-D-fucopyranosyl-(1+4)-ß-D- fucopyranoside. 4. Solid-State NMR Characterization of Lipid Membranes
Abstract : This thesis deals with the study of lipid bilayer systems by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance. Two-dimensional 1H-13C separated local field experiments under magic-angle spinning were employed to investigate structural and dynamical modifications of cell membranes, resulting from the addition of compounds with some biological relevance. 5. Studies of native and Cd(II)-substituted carbonic anhydrases with special reference to their interaction with inhibitors
Abstract : The major aim of this work has been to gain further insights into the catalytic mechanism of carbonic anhydrase (carbonate hydro-lyase, EC 4.2.1.1). READ MORE
