  1. 16. Influence of hydrogen on corrosion and stress induced cracking of stainless steel

    Author : Ulf Kivisäkk; Christofer Leygraf; Roy Johnsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrogen; corrosion; hydrogen embrittlement; stainless steels; uniform corrosion; activation; dewpoint corrosion; low temperature creep; plastic deformation; microhardness; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : Hydrogen is the smallest element in the periodical table. It has been shown in several studies that hydrogen has a large influence on the corrosion and cracking behaviour of stainless steels. Hydrogen is involved in several of the most common cathode reactions during corrosion and can also cause embrittlement in many stainless steels. READ MORE

  2. 17. Microdialysis to study the Gastrin-ECL cell Axis in the conscious rat

    Author : Peter Ericsson; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The ECL cells constitute the major endocrine cell population in the acid-producing part of the stomach. Gastrin from G cells in the antrum is the main stimulus of gastric acid secretion. Gastrin stimulates the ECL cells in the oxyntic mucosa to mobilize histamine, which in turn stimulates the parietal cells to produce hydrochloric acid. READ MORE

  3. 18. Numerical modelling of swirling drying flow

    Author : Simon Johansson; Per Carlsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Waste hydrochloric acid (HCl) from the pickling process at SSAB EMEA in Borl¨ange, Sweden, is regenerated using a technique called spray roasting where waste HCl is sprayed into a hot reactor through four spray nozzles at the top of the reactor. The regeneration (drying) process is driven by four natural gas burners placed symmetrically along the periphery of the reactor and causes the water in the waste acid droplets to evaporate. 4. 19. Characterization and Dissolution of HEV NiMH Batteries

    Author : Kristian Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Materials Recycling; Nickel tetracarbonyl; Selective dissolution; Nickel metal hydride; Characterization; Mond; Batteries;

    Abstract : The recycling of batteries is an important issue in a sustainable society where materials recycling of complex products is a necessity. Without an efficient recycling there will be an unnecessary loss of both materials and energy due to inefficient or non-existent recycling. READ MORE

  5. 20. Towards better understanding of the flow inside industrial processes: a CFD study

    Author : Simon Johansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a method to numerically pre- dict flow patterns. In this thesis the method is used to predict the flow in a hydrochloric acid regeneration plant located at SSAB EMEA in Borl ̈ange and to investigate the flow in a burner region of a rotary kiln at LKAB in Kiruna.
