6. Hydrodynamics, Erosion and Heat Transfer in Pressurized Fluidized Beds
Abstract : Measurements of hydrodynamics, local tube erosion and local instantaneous bed-to-tube heat transfer were carried out in a cold, pressurized, fluidized bed with different horizontal tube banks. The influence of pressure, fluidization velocity, particle size and tube-bank geometry was studied. READ MORE

7. Design and development of a novel textile based bioreactor: : Ethanol and biogas production as case studies
Abstract : Bioreactors are designed to provide enabling conditions for the controlled growth of microorganisms, such as good heat and mass transfer, aeration, hydrodynamics, geometry for adequate gas holdup, pH and foaming control, conditions for optimal substrate consumption and product formation, as well as mechanisms for monitoring microbial conditions. Additionally, bioreactors are designed to handle stress that would be exerted on them by the weight of the fermenting media and by the high pressure used for sterilisation. READ MORE

8. Chemodynamics in Star-Forming Molecular Clouds
Abstract : Stars are fundamental building blocks of galaxies. However, the answers to many basic questions about their formation remain elusive. There is no consensus on a theory that can predict the rate of star formation, its clustering properties, and the conditions needed for massive stars to be born. READ MORE

9. Dissipative formation of galaxies in hierarchical cosmology
Abstract : A description and detailed tests of a numerical code for simulations of galaxy formation is presented. The dynamics is followed with fully adaptive and Lagrangian Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) combined with a gravitational tree method. The severe numerical problem of sub-resolution clustering is solved by merging of gas particles. READ MORE

10. Fluid dynamics and mass transfer in bubble columns with and without packing
Abstract : Bubble columns are used in the chemical industry to perform gas liquid reactions, like oxidation, hydrogenation and fermentation. The objective of the present thesis was mainly to study the fluid dynamics of semi batch packed bubble columns at both atmospheric and pressurized conditions. READ MORE
