  1. 16. Self-bonding of beech veneers

    Author : Carmen Cristescu; Mark Hughes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : This thesis presents studies on the self-bonding of veneers, and investigations into the properties of boards obtained by hot-pressing beech veneers without adhesives. The raw material is pressed at temperatures from 200 to 250ºC, at pressures from 4 to 6 MPa and pressing times from 240 to 360 s. READ MORE

  2. 17. Molecular Recognition Studies Based on Imprinting Technology

    Author : Cong Yu; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; imprinting; molecular recognition; polymer; chiral separation; acrylamide; chromatography; functional monomer; cross-linking; hydrogen bonding; hydrophobic interactions; aqueous media; solvent; antibody; mimics; receptor; artificial enzyme; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have focused on five main research areas: 1). A new type of imprinted polymer has been developed, namely the amide MIP. The amide functional monomers showed better hydrogen bonding capabilities in polar organic solvents and the resulting polymers exhibited good enantiomeric recognition properties in organic media. 3. 18. Some Aspects of Physicochemical Properties of DNA and RNA

    Author : Sandipta Acharya; Jyoti Chattopadhyaya; Piet Herdewijn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Bioorganic chemistry; nucleic acids; hydrogen-bonding; stacking; single-stranded; NMR; molecular dynamics; Bioorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on nine research publications (I – IX) on structure and reactivity of RNA vis-à-vis DNA. The DNA and RNA are made of flexible pentose sugar units, polyelectrolytic phosphodiester backbone, and heterocyclic nucleobases. DNA stores our genetic code, whereas RNA is involved both in protein biosynthesis and catalysis. READ MORE

  4. 19. Chirality in Crystal Engineering

    Author : Krister Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; networks; 2; coordination chemistry; crystal engineering; 10; 3-nets; hydrogen bonding; 2 -biimidazole; single crystal X-ray diffraction; bis-chelating ligands; chirality;

    Abstract : Crystal engineering combines supramolecular chemistry with solid state chemistry. The goal is to make molecular entities assemble into predefined structures with specific properties. At the same time much research is focused on the understanding of the intermolecular interactions governing the crystallisation process. READ MORE

  5. 20. Adsorption and bonding on platinum : influence of the surface structure and chemical composition

    Author : Emmanuelle Janin; KTH; []
    Keywords : Platinum; tin; low index single crystal surfaces; adsorption;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the influence of the structure andchemical composition of platinum surfaces on the adsorption ofsome molecules. Three main lines can be distinguished : 1) thecharacterisation of clean/modified surfaces, 2) the adsorptionof some simple atoms and molecules on these surfaces andfinally 3) the adsorption of 2-butenal, a bi-functionalmolecule containing a C=C group conjugated with a C=O group.
