  1. 21. Development of Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics Tools : From Hydrogen Evolution to Cell Division in Cyanobacteria

    Author : Fernando Lopes Pinto; Peter Lindblad; Röbbe Wünschiers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; hydrogen; RNA; bioinformatics; RT-PCR; RACE; transcription; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Molecular Biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The use of fossil fuels presents a particularly interesting challenge - our society strongly depends on coal and oil, but we are aware that their use is damaging the environment. Currently, this awareness is gaining momentum, and pressure to evolve towards an energetically cleaner planet is very strong. READ MORE

  2. 22. Nanostructured Catalysts and Electrode Materials for PEM Fuel Cells

    Author : Kjell Wikander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PEMFC; mesoporous; alkylthiol; alkylamine; carbon; microemulsion; Fuel cell; surfactants; nanoparticles; electron microscopy; Pt; nanocasting; silica; cathode; phase transfer method; oxygen reduction;

    Abstract : The Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is a promising energy converting technology for powering automotives and electrical equipment using hydrogen gas as fuel and producing water as the only exhaust. The active carbon-supported platinum catalyst present in the electrodes limits the maximum power generation in state-of-the-art PEMFCs due to platinum’s poor activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) taking place at the cathode. 3. 23. Economic Aspects of Fuel Cell-Based Stationary Energy Systems

    Author : Suat Sevencan; Göran Lindbergh; Lechtenböhmer Stefan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel cells; niche market; stationary applications; feasibility; multi-generation; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : It is evident that human activity has an important impact on climate. Constantly increasing energy demand is one of the biggest causes of climate change. The fifth assessment report of the Inter-governmental panel on climate change states that decarbonisation of electricity generation is a key component of climate change mitigation. READ MORE

    Abstract : There is currently a general need for alternative and sustainable energy systems. As part of such a system, the polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEMFC) offers efficient and emission free energy conversion. READ MORE

  5. 25. Intermediate Temperature Solid Ionic Conductors and Fuel Cells

    Author : Zhu Bin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; molten phase; bulk and interfacial conduction; intermediate temperature; salt-ceramic composites; solid state proton conductors and fuel cells; blocked and non-blocked mobile species; ionic and protonic conduction and diffusion; oxyacid salts;

    Abstract : Novel solid proton conductors based on oxyacid salts and salt-ceramic composites and intermediate temperature fuel cells have been developed in this thesis work. The discovery of proton conduction in these materials introduces a new concept of proton conductors and starts a new research field - Intermediate Temperature Solid Proton Conductors and Fuel Cells.
