  1. 1. Materials for Hydrogen storage and synthesis of new materials by hydrogenation

    Author : Serhiy Luzan; Alexandr Talyzin; Yaroslav Filinchuk; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fullerene C60; MOFs; CNTs; SWCNTs; PAHs; peapods; hydrogen; hydrogen storage; hydrogenation; adsorption; surface area; pore volume; spillover; nanoribbons; fragmentation; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The search for new materials for hydrogen storage is important for the development of future hydrogen energy applications. In this Thesis, it is shown that new materials with interesting properties can be synthesized by the reaction of hydrogen with various nanocarbon precursors. The thesis consists of two parts. 2. 2. Hunting Hydrogen : Structure-property relations in High Entropy Alloy-based metal hydrides

    Author : Gustav Ek; Martin Sahlberg; Ulrich Häussermann; William I.F. David; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrogen; metal-hydride; High Entropy Alloy; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Metal hydrides have many uses when switching the energy system from fossil fuels to renewable sources, such as rechargeable batteries, hydrogen storage, hydrogen compression and thermal storage. State of the art materials for these applications such as LaNi5 and TiFe, however, suffer certain limitations such as degradation during repeated hydrogen cycling and harsh activation conditions for initial hydrogen uptake, promoting the need for novel materials. Abstract : Demands for zero greenhouse-gas emission vehicles have sharpened with today’s increased focus on global warming. Hydrogen storage is a key technology for the implementation of hydrogen powered vehicles. READ MORE

  5. 5. First Principle Studies of Functional Materials : Spintronics, Hydrogen Storage and Cutting Tools

    Author : Fredrik Silvearv; Ahuja Rajeev; Ali Zaoui; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : spintronics; hydrogen storage; coating materials; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The properties of functional materials have been studied with density functional theory. The first type of materials that have been investigated is the so called diluted magnetic semiconductors. It is a new class of materials that could offer enhanced functionality by making use of spin in addition to the charge of the electron. READ MORE
