  1. 1. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration

    Author : Kristina Haraldsson; Per Alvfors; Dougal J. Nelson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; direct hydrogen; Proton Exchange Membrane; PEM; fuel cell; fuel cell vehicle; fuel cell hybrid vehicles; on-board hydrogen storage; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. READ MORE

  2. 2. Atomistic Modelling of Materials for Clean Energy Applications : hydrogen generation, hydrogen storage, and Li-ion battery

    Author : Zhao Qian; Rajeev Ahuja; Börje Johansson; Antonio Ferreira da Silva; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Renewable energy; Materials science; Hydrogen production; Hydrogen storage; Li-ion battery; Density functional theory; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi; SRA - E-Science SeRC ; SRA - E-vetenskap SeRC ;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a number of clean-energy materials for hydrogen generation, hydrogen storage, and Li-ion battery energy storage applications have been investigated through state-of-the-art density functional theory.As an alternative fuel, hydrogen has been regarded as one of the promising clean energies with the advantage of abundance (generated through water splitting) and pollution-free emission if used in fuel cell systems. Abstract : Demands for zero greenhouse-gas emission vehicles have sharpened with today’s increased focus on global warming. Hydrogen storage is a key technology for the implementation of hydrogen powered vehicles. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hydrogen generation from dimethyl ether by autothermal reforming

    Author : Marita Nilsson; Lars Pettersson; Ann Cornell; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; autothermal reforming; auxiliary power unit; dimethyl ether; fuel cell; hydrogen; palladium; reforming catalyst; temperature-programmed reduction; truck idling; X-ray diffraction; zinc; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Heavy-duty trucks are in idle operation during long periods of time, providing the vehicles with electricity via the alternator at standstill. Idling trucks contribute to large amounts of emissions and high fuel consumption as a result of the low efficiency from fuel to electricity. READ MORE
