  1. 11. Complete methane oxidation over alumina and zeolite supported palladium for emission control

    Author : Ida Friberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pd zeolite; Pd Al2O3; sulfur poisoning; stoichiometric; hydrothermal aging; water deactivation; regeneration; methane oxidation; Ba;

    Abstract : The use of methane-based fuels, such as natural gas and biogas, gives lower emissions of for instance carbon dioxide (CO2) and particulate matters compared to traditionally used liquid fossil fuels. However, the exhaust gases contain significant levels of unburnt methane (CH4) residuals, which are desirable to minimize since CH4 has a high global warming potential. READ MORE

  2. 12. Towards a Sustainable Biomass and Waste Refinery Based on Pyrolysis Combined with a Pretreatment Process

    Author : Yuming Wen; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Tobias Richards; KTH; []

    Abstract : Some of the naturally accumulated biomass and the massive production of waste by human activities have caused serious environmental problems. The degradation of biomass and waste is one of the main greenhouse gasses (GHG) emission sources. READ MORE

  3. 13. Exploring the fate of emerging contaminants during hydrothermal regeneration of carbonaceous adsorbents

    Author : Pierre Oesterle; Stina Jansson; Jerker Fick; Ulrika Rova; Capucine Dupont; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Wastewater from households and industries commonly contain emerging contaminants that are not easily removed by most wastewater treatment plants. These contaminants can be removed through adsorption onto adsorbents, such as activated carbon or biochars. READ MORE

  4. 14. Advanced Gasification of Biomass/Waste for Substitution of Fossil Fuels in Steel Industry Heat Treatment Furnaces

    Author : Duleeka Gunarathne; Weihong Yang; Wlodzimierz Blasiak; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; Pretreatment; Gasification; Pressure drop; Steel industry; Fuel switch; Energy efficiency; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : With the current trend of CO2 mitigation in process industries, the primary goal of this thesis is to promote biomass as an energy and reduction agent source to substitute fossil sources in the steel industry. The criteria for this substitution are that the steel process retains the same function and the integrated energy efficiency is as high as possible. READ MORE

  5. 15. Carbon-graphite fiber-reinforced polymers for implant suprastructures

    Author : Susanna Segerström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Implant prostheses; Matrix; MMA; PMMA nanoparticles; Copolymer; Surface treatment; Size; Adhesion; SEM; Mechanical properties; Physicochemical properties.;

    Abstract : Carbon-graphite fiber-reinforced polymers (CGFR) can be used as the core material for implant-retained prostheses as an alternative to metal frameworks. The purpose was to formulate and develop carbon-graphite fiber-reinforced polymers intended for implant suprastructures and to determine physicochemical, mechanical properties and possible cytotoxic effects.
