  1. 6. Fragment Based Drug Discovery with Surface Plasmon Resonance Technology

    Author : Helena Nordström; Helena Danielson; Gregg Siegal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fragment based drug discovery; SPR biosensor; matrix metalloproteinase-12; HIV-1 protease; resistance;

    Abstract : Fragment based drug discovery (FBDD) has been applied to two protease drug targets, MMP-12 and HIV-1 protease. The primary screening and characterization of hit fragments were performed with surface plasmon resonance -technology. Further evaluation of the interaction was done by inhibition studies and in one case with X-ray crystallography. READ MORE

  2. 7. Protease Activity, Inhibition and Ligand Interaction Analysis : Developments and Applications for Drug Discovery

    Author : Thomas Gossas; Helena Danielson; Mikael Widersten; Alexander Wlodawer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; proteases; kinetics; biosensors; inhibition; calcium; drug discovery; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The present study has focused on characterising protease-ligand interactions in the context of drug discovery. The proteases that have been studied are human matrix metallopeptidase 12 (MMP-12), HIV-protease and Hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/NS4A protease. READ MORE

  3. 8. Molecular perspectives on goethite dissolution in the presence of oxalate and desferrioxamine-B

    Author : Anna A. Simanova; John Loring; Owen Duckworth; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Iron, an essential nutrient, is primarily present in soils in the form of iron-bearing minerals characterized with low solubilities. Under iron deficient conditions, some plants and microorganisms exude a mixture of iron-complexing agents, including carboxylates and siderophores, that can cause minerals to dissolve and increase iron solubility. 4. 9. Effects of Bio-Ash Amendments on the Metabolism of Ectomycorrhizal Fungi : A Method Development and Metabolomic Study

    Author : Ana Paola Vilches; Dan Bylund; Sara Norström; Bjarne Strobel; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Forest ecosystems have played a fundamental role in the development of our society. Since the beginning of the civilization, forest have provided us with wood as a product for construction, tools, furniture and domestic heating. The well-being of the forest is therefore fundamental to our existence. READ MORE
