16. Cytochrome P450 enzymes in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bile acids and active forms of vitamin D
Abstract : Cytochrome P450 enzymes catalyzing hydroxylations in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bile acids and active forms of vitamin D3 were studied.A microsomal cytochrome P450 enzyme with a molecular mass of 53 kDa, catalyzing the 6α-hydroxylation of taurochenodeoxycholic acid was purfied from pig liver microsomes and characterized with respect to catalytic and electrophoretic properties as well as polyclonal antibodies. 17. Studies on 7a-hydroxycholesterol in extrahepatic tissues and cells
Abstract : In human liver, primary bile acids are synthesized from cholesterol via the well-established neutral and also via the recently described acidic pathways. The latter includes 27-hydroxycholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase. READ MORE

18. Pharmacogenetic and pharmacokinetic studies of cyclophosphamide : in cell, animal and human
Abstract : Cyclophosphamide (CPA) is widely used anti-cancer drug that has to be catalyzed by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme 2B6 as well as some other CYPs to exert its cytotoxic activity. A high degree of interindividual variation in CPA kinetics has been reported in both children and adult patients, which may be due to several factors such as concomitantly used drugs, variation in physiological status of individual patients and genetic polymorphism of the CYP enzymes. 19. Theoretical studies of mononuclear non-heme iron active sites
Abstract : The quantum chemical investigations presented in this thesis use hybrid density functional theory to shed light on the catalytic mechanisms of mononuclear non-heme iron oxygenases, accommodating a ferrous ion in their active sites. More specifically, the dioxygen activation process and the subsequent oxidative reactions in the following enzymes were studied: tetrahydrobiopterin-dependent hydroxylases, naphthalene 1,2-dioxygenase and α-ketoglutarate-dependent enzymes. 20. Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Oxylipins : Application to Cytochrome P450-Dependent Metabolism
Abstract : Cytochrome P450 (CYP) family 4 constitutes monoxygenases responsible for hydroxylation of fatty acids and other lipids. For example, CYP4F3 metabolizes leukotrienes and CYP4F8 prostaglandin H. Importantly, six of the twelve CYP4 enzymes are orphans, i.e. READ MORE
