  1. 1. Validation of Several Nucleoside Tracers as Proliferation Markers

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Li Lu; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biopharmacy; PET; cell proliferation; DNA synthesis; hydroxyurea; cimetidine; diuretic; Biofarmaci; PHARMACY Biopharmacy; FARMACI Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Abstract : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a powerful method for in vivo characterization of tumor biochemistry and clinically has been used for diagnosing and grading of malignancy. A key element in oncology is proliferation potential, a feature that is assumed to be an important indicator of tumor growth. READ MORE

  3. 3. Clinical and Experimental Studies in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Studies of Treatment Outcome, In Vitro Cellular Drug Resistance and Gene Expression

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ulla Olsson-Strömberg; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Medicine; chronic myeloid leukemia; adult; stem cell transplantation; mobilization of Ph-negative stem cells; in vitro assay; imatinib; gene expression; Medicin;

    Abstract : The aims of the studies described in the thesis were to investigate different treatment strategies in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. Furthermore, activity of imatinib was investigated by in vitro cytotoxicity assay, and the gene expression pattern in interferon treated patients. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanisms determining efficacy of tyrosine kinase-targeting anti-cancer drugs

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Oncology-Pathology

    Author : Maja Bradic Lindh; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The expanding field of cancer research and the introduction of multiple molecular biology techniques have significantly improved cancer drug discovery, presented new drugs, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and thereby gave new hope to the cancer patients and their oncologists. Using this knowledge it is now becoming increasingly possible to determine outcome of malignant disease more accurately, to estimate response to specific therapies and to get closer to the ideal of personalized targeted therapy adjusted to each patient, and to the specific cancer type and its unique genetic profile. 5. 5. Analyses of Akt and PDGF receptor expression and activation in human tumors

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Author : Janna Paulsson; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : These studies aimed at developing methodology for detection of proteins involved in cancer and the evaluation of their prognostic significance in human tumors. Signal transduction profiling of tumors are becoming increasingly interesting based on the accumulating evidence of its prognostic and drug response-predicative value. READ MORE
