  1. 1. Development and Applications of Hypervalent Iodine Compounds : Powerful Arylation and Oxidation Reagents

    Author : Nazli Jalalian; Berit Olofsson; Viktor V. Zhdankin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hypervalent iodine compounds; diaryliodonium salts; oxidation; Koser s reagent; arylation; phenols; diaryl ethers; chemoselectivity; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The first part of this thesis describes the efficient synthesis of several hypervalent iodine(III) compounds. Electron-rich diaryliodonium salts have been synthesized in a one-pot procedure, employing mCPBA as the oxidant. Both symmetric and unsymmetric diaryliodonium tosylates can be isolated in high yields. READ MORE

  2. 2. Novel Applications of Benziodoxole Reagents in the Synthesis of Organofluorine Compounds

    Author : Nadia O. Ilchenko; Kálmán J. Szabó; Cristina Nevado; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; trifluoromethylation; hypervalent iodine; Togni reagent; difluorination; iodofluorination; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns method development of new synthetic routes by applying electrophilic hypervalent iodine reagents, such as trifluoromethyl-benziodoxole (Togni reagent) and fluoro-benziodoxole. The first project involved the addition of an oxygen moiety and trifluoromethyl group across double and triple bonds (both groups derived from the hypervalent iodine reagent). READ MORE

  3. 3. Hypervalent Iodine Reagents in Metal-Free Arylations and Vinylations : Investigation of Suitable Coupling Partners and Synthesis of New Reagents

    Author : Elin Stridfeldt; Berit Olofsson; Zoltán Novák; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diaryliodonium Salts; Benzofurans; Aryl Ethers; Secondary Amides; Vinylbenziodoxolones; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the development of metal-free reactions to obtain carbon-heteroatom and carbon-carbon bonds. This is achieved by transferring carbon ligands from hypervalent iodine reagents to suitable nucleophiles. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of new Fluorination Methods Directed to Fluorine-18 Labelling

    Author : Miguel Ángel Cortés González; Kálmán J. Szabó; Guosheng Liu; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorine; fluorine-18; late-stage; labelling; nucleophilic; electrophilic; fluorination; positron emision tomography; PET; hypervalent iodine; benziodoxole; metal-free; DBU; copper; palladium; rhodium; carbene; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the development of new fluorination reactions and their application to fluorine-18 labelling. Fluorine-18 labelled compounds are employed as tracers in Positron Emission Tomography (PET), which is a powerful non-invasive imaging method in medical diagnostics. READ MORE

  5. 5. Synthesis of Organofluorine Compounds and Allenylboronic Acids - Applications Including Fluorine-18 Labelling

    Author : Denise N. Meyer; Kálmán J. Szabó; Dominique Cahard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; boron; allenylboronic acid; BINOL; homopropargyl alcohol; organocatalyst; organoboron; organofluorine; fluorine; fluorine-18; late-stage; labelling; labeling; nucleophilic; electrophilic; fluorination; positron emision tomography; PET; radiotracer; hypervalent iodine; benziodoxole; benzoxazepines; diaryliodonium salt; metal-free; neutrophil elastase; NE; neutrophil elastase inhibitor; trifluoromethylation; trifluoromethylthiolation; difluoro enol silyl ethers; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This work is focused on two areas: the chemistry of organofluorine and organoboron compounds. In the first chapter, a copper-catalysed synthesis of tri- and tetrasubstituted allenylboronic acids is presented. Extension of the same method leads to allenylboronic esters. READ MORE
