  1. 16. Phase Phenomena in Polymer Networks : Empirical Studies on the Influence of Hydrophobicity, Charge Density and Crosslinks on Macroion-Induced Phase Transitions in Polyelectrolyte Gels

    Author : Martin Andersson; Per Hansson; Lennart Piculell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gel; microgel; microsphere; polystyrenesulfonate; polyacrylate; polyacrylicacid; DoTAB; DoTAC; CTAB; CTAC; network; polyelectrolyte; complex salt; self assembly; phase behaviour; hysteresis; thermodynamic; core-shell; lysozyme; cytochrome c; microscopy; micromanipulator; elastomer; elastic; protein; surfactant; phase behaviour; sorting; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The thesis concerns polyelectrolyte gels in contact with oppositely charged proteins and surfactant micelles, and includes of four papers (I-IV). In paper I confocal Raman spectroscopy was introduced as a method to trace micelles and investigate the structure of gel-surfactant complexes, in phase separated gel spheres. READ MORE

  2. 17. Experimental studies of sorption and transport of moisture in cement based materials with supplementary cementitious materials

    Author : Mahsa Saeidpour; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cement; Concrete; Moisture transport; Hysteresis; Supplementary cementitious materials; Water vapor sorption; Sorption isotherms; Anomalous sorption;

    Abstract : Most deterioration processes in cement based materials are closely related to moisture sorption and moisture transport properties. Therefore, it is important to study these properties, both theoretically and practically. This work is an experimental investigation in this field. READ MORE

  3. 18. AC losses in HTS as a function of magnetic fields with arbitrary directions

    Author : Anna Wolfbrandt; Sven Hörnfeldt; Ole Tönnessen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; High-temperatur superconductors; AC loss modelling; hysteresis; E - J characteristic; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Although a superconductor has zero resistivity when carrying a direct current, losses do occur when it is exposed to an alternating magnetic field and/or is carrying an alternating current. The magnitude of these so-called AC losses depends on the operating temperature, the amplitude and the direction of the magnetic field, the transport current, and the frequency. READ MORE

  4. 19. Magnetizing Currents in Power Transformers : Measurements, Simulations, and Diagnostic Methods

    Author : Claes Carrander; Hans Edin; Göran Engdahl; Rajeev Thottappillil; Amr Adly; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transformer core; diagnostics; three-phase; no-load; hysteresis; modeling; resonance; remanence; delta; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis demonstrates a method for transformer core diagnostics. The method uses the no-load current of the transformer as an indicator, and gives different characteristic signatures for different types of faults or defects. Using the no-load current for the diagnostic gives high sensitivity. READ MORE

  5. 20. Repolarization studies in the long QT syndrome

    Author : Pia Dahlberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; long QT syndrome; repolarization; hysteresis; vectorcardiography; QT adaptation; ventricular repolarization;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT Background: Sudden cardiac death in the young is predominantly caused by inherited cardiac conditions. Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is one of the most common of these disorders. Since risk stratification relies largely upon the heart rate (HR) corrected QT interval (QTc), it is crucial to identify an appropriate method for QT correction. READ MORE
