1. Formation, uptake and bioaccumulation of methylmercury in coastal seas : a baltic sea case study
Abstract : Methylmercury (MeHg) is a potent neurotoxin which can bioaccumulate to harmful levels in aquatic food webs. Methylmercury formation is a predominantly biotic process which involves phylogenically diverse microorganisms (e.g. iron- or sulfate-reducing bacteria). READ MORE

2. Compound-specific bromine isotope analysis of methyl bromide using GC-multiple collector mass spectrometry
Abstract : The isotopic composition of ozone depleting methyl halides may provide valuable information on the sources and sinks of these compounds. However, so far mostly stable carbon isotope analysis of methyl chloride and methyl bromide has been attempted. READ MORE

3. Fractionation of Fe and Zn isotopes : methods and some applications in aqueous geochemistry
Abstract : Multiple collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS) has been used for the measurement of Fe and Zn isotope ratios in a variety of sample types including natural and synthetic waters, ferromanganese concretions, sediments and biological material. The focus of this PhD study was the development of analytical procedures for precise and accurate measurement of Fe and Zn isotope ratios by high resolution MC-ICPMS. READ MORE

4. Advances in analytical methodologies for studies of the platinum metallome in malignant cells exposed to cisplatin
Abstract : The scientific progress about the important chemotherapeutic drug substance cisplatin (CDDP) and its function has often been rendered by data difficult to interpret, and still many questions about its mode of action remains to be clarified by the scientific community. However, studies of CDDP possess a high complexity due to; i) low intracellular concentration, ii) many potential biomolecule targets, iii) poor or unknown stability of the intact drug and its biomolecule adducts and iv) complex and varying sample matrices. 5. Factors influencing the metabolism of inorganic arsenic in humans
Abstract : Inorganic arsenic (iAs), a naturally occurring drinking water contaminant, is a potent human carcinogen and toxicant. It is believed that in humans, as well as in most mammals, inorganic arsenic is biotransformed via reduction and methylation using one-carbon metabolism with S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) as methyl donor, and is excreted mainly in urine as dimethylarsinate (DMA) and methylarsonate (MA) as well as some unmethylated iAs (arsenate (As(V)) and arsenite (As(III)).
