  1. 1. B cell deviations and type 1 diabetes in the NOD mouse

    Author : Mia Sundström; Kristina Lejon; Susanna Cardell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Autoimmunity; NOD mouse; Idd; TACI; Immune response; Immune complex; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the insulin producing β-cells in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans are selectively attacked by the immune system. The β-cells are destroyed resulting in a reduced or eliminated insulin production, which in turn lead to a high blood glucose level. READ MORE

  2. 2. The genetic basis of T and B cell contribution to autoimmune diabetes in NOD mice

    Author : Vinícius Motta; Dan Holmberg; Linda Wicker; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 Diabetes; NOD mouse; CTLA-4; superantigen; T cells; Idd; marginal zone B cells; embryo aggregation chimera; negative selection; Immunogenetics; Immungenetik;

    Abstract : The nonobese diabetic mouse (NOD) is an excellent animal model to study type 1 diabetes. As with some humans, disease in the NOD mouse is effected by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. At least 20 insulin dependent diabetes (Idd) susceptibility loci have been identified so far, both in humans and in the NOD mouse. READ MORE

  3. 3. Caring for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities : how can it be experienced and percieved by registered nurses?

    Author : Marie Appelgren; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : nursing; caring; intellectual and developmental disability; Vårdvetenskap; Care science;

    Abstract : Registered nurses [RNs] are within the frontline of professional nursing and are expected to provide a diverse range of health care services to a varied and heterogenic group of patients. They are bound by a code of ethics that mandates that nurses respect all human rights regardless of the patient’s abilities or functional status. READ MORE

  4. 4. A sub-phenotype approach to dissect the genetic control of murine type 1 diabetes

    Author : Marie-Louise Bergman; Leif Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse is a model for human type 1 diabetes (T1D). The disease in the NOD mouse is polygenic and multifactorial and so far at least 20 insulin dependent diabetes (Idd) susceptibility loci have been identified. However, no etiological mutations have been definitely ascribed to the Idd loci. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aspects of oral implant technology and osseointegration

    Author : Rainde Naiara Rezende de Jesus; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomaterials; oral implants; surface topography; surface roughness; surface energy; surface wettability; hydrophilicity; macrogeometry; implant body; thread design; surgical protocol; oversized drilling; osseointegration; bone-to-implant contact; bone density; primary implant stability; insertion torque; removal torque; removal energy; connection stiffness; osteoclasts; RAW264.7 cells; gene expression;

    Abstract : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet.
