  1. 16. Modelling Aspects of Wastewater Treatment Processes

    Author : Ulf Jeppsson; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automatiska system; control engineering; robotics; Automation; thickening; solids flux; simulation; secondary clarifier; protozoa; predators; parameter estimation; model reduction; model identifiability; mathematical modelling; clarification; biofilm; activated sludge; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Wastewater treatment processes are inherently dynamic because of the large variations in the influent wastewater flow rate, concentration and composition. Moreover, these variations are to a large extent not possible to control. READ MORE

  3. 18. Signal Separation - II

    Author : Ulf Lindgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; local convergence; mutual information; chi square test; signal enhancement; parameter identifiability; source separation; signal separation; algorithms;

    Abstract : Signal separation is a signal processing technique which enables the separation of superimposed signals. There are several practical situations were signal separation can be used, for example in noise reduction for cellular phones subject to background noise. READ MORE

  5. 20. A Combined Perceptual and Acoustical Account of US Dialect Distance

    Author : Clelia R. LaMonica; Peter Sundkvist; Cynthia Clopper; Anja Schüppert; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; US English; dialects; dialectometry; perception; acoustics; sociophonetics; English; engelska;

    Abstract : This study examines the influence of attitudinal, perceptual, and acoustic factors on the categorization of US dialects by comparing acoustic-vocalic and perceived accent distances. The results of native and non-native listeners’ perceived distances between US regional accents are investigated in light of how acoustic-phonetic markers, attitudinal judgments, and identifiability may together impact how similar or different accents are perceived to be.
