1. IgA Nephropathy – Mucosal Immunity and Treatment Options
Abstract : In the present studies we have explored the link between food hypersensitivity and IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and evaluated treatment options in primary and recurrent disease. Approximately one third of our IgAN patients had a rectal mucosal sensitivity to gluten, as demonstrated by increased local mucosal nitric oxide production and/or myeloperoxidase release after gluten challenge. 3. Studies of the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy and Henoch-Schönlein purpura, with special reference to Streptococcus pyogenes infections and complement
Abstract : IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common form of primary glomerulonephritis and Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) the most common form of vasculitis in childhood. HSP may affect kidneys, a complication termed Henoch-Schönlein nephropathy (HSN). Renal pathology in HSN resembles that seen in IgAN. The pathogenesis of IgAN and HSP is so far unclear. READ MORE

4. Immunoglobulin A nephropathy and disease complications : register-based studies
Abstract : Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) is the commonest primary glomerular disease worldwide. A kidney biopsy is required for the diagnosis. IgA immune-complex depositions sets off a cascade leading to renal scarring, proteinuria and hypertension. READ MORE

5. The role of glycoproteins in glomerular pathophysiology
Abstract : Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasing worldwide and has a prevalence of around 10%. With time patients are at risk of losing their renal function and will need dialysis or transplantation for survival. There are no specific treatments available and mechanisms behind the onset and progression of CKD are still not fully investigated. READ MORE
