    Author : Eva A Andersson; Alf Thorstensson; Margareta Nordin; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurophysiology; Neurofysiologi; abdominal muscles; biomechanics; electromyography; erector spinae; iliacus; iliopsoas; hip flexor muscles; locomotion; motor control; normalization; posture; psoas; quadratus lumborum; rehabilitation; running; sit-ups; strength; training exercises; u;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to study the myouelectric activity of all major muscles involved in the movements and stabilization of the trunk, pelvis and hips during training exercises, postures, motor tasks, maximal strength performance and locomotion. By use of ultra-sound, EMG electrodes could be guided safely and accurately into muscles situated even close to the spinal column, such as psoas, quadratus lumborum and deep parts of erector spinae. 2. 2. Subject-specific musculoskeletal modeling of the lower extremities in persons with unilateral cerebral palsy

    Author : Olesya Klets; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Sven Kleiven; KTH; []
    Keywords : cerebral palsy; moment arm; muscle length; hemiplegic; MRI; subject-specific; musculoskeletal modeling; lower extremities; muscle volume; Mechanical engineering; Maskinteknik;

    Abstract : The computational musculoskeletal models that are used to study muscle moment-generating capacities of persons with movement disorders and planning treatment options must be accurate, and take into account the inter-individual variability of musculoskeletal geometry. In Paper I the methods of creating the subject-specific musculoskeletal model of the lower extremities from magnetic resonance images (MRIs) were developed. READ MORE
