  1. 6. Structural Studies on PP2A and Methods in Protein Production

    Author : Auður Magnúsdóttir; Pär Nordlund; Herman Van Tilbeurgh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PP2A; PTPA; B56γ; Protein Production; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : PP2A is a major phosphatase in the cell that participates in multiple cell signaling pathways. It is a heterotrimer of a core dimer and variable regulatory subunits. Details of its structure, function and regulation are slowly emerging. Here, the structure of two regulators of PP2A are de-scribed; PTPA and B56γ. READ MORE

  2. 7. Engineering of Affibody molecules for Radionuclide Molecular Imaging and Intracellular Targeting

    Author : Camilla Hofström; Torbjörn Gräslund; Serge Muyldermans; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Affibody molecules; affinity proteins; radionuclide molecular imaging; intracellular targeting; EGFR; HER2; IGF-1R; SRA - Molecular Bioscience; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap;

    Abstract : Affibody molecules are small (7 kDa) affinity proteins of non-immunoglobulin origin that have been generated to specifically interact with a large number of clinically important molecular targets.In this thesis, Affibody molecules have been employed as tracers for radionuclide molecular imaging of HER2- and IGF-1R-expressing tumors, paper I-IV, and for surface knock-down of EGFR, paper V. 3. 8. Proteomic analyses of bioactive molecules in health and disease

    Author : Theres Jägerbrink; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : After the mapping of genomes and knowing the blueprints of the possible gene products, focus is shifting from genomics to proteomics. Proteome analyses can be used for diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of diseases and for characterization of bioactive compounds and their mechanisms of action. READ MORE

  4. 9. Synthesis and Characterization of Functional Polymers Based on Trimethylolpropane Trimethacrylate and Glycidyl Methacrylate

    Author : Maria Walenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose derivative; trimethylolpropane; gels; compression; separation; pore surface; trimethacrylate; Copolymers;

    Abstract : Copolymers of trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) were prepared with various monomer-to-solvent ratios, GMA to TRIM ratios and with various types of porogens. These parameters affected the inner morphology of the polymers and various pore surface areas (100-500 m2/g) and pore size distributions were obtained. READ MORE

  5. 10. Nanoporous Aluminum Oxide – A Promising Support for Modular Enzyme Reactors

    Author : Marcus Kjellander; Gunnar Johansson; Gunnar Henriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoporous aluminum oxide; immobilized enzymes; bioreactor; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Nanoporous alumina is a rather newly characterized material that so far has found limited use in the construction of bioreactors. The material has many advantages compared to conventional immobilization matrices. I have investigated its use in flow-through bioreactors. READ MORE
